I have neglected purchasing the blade sharpening attachment for my Work Sharp Ken Onion knife sharpener up until now because I didn't like the idea of having to guess at the correct angle for sharpening. I never understood why Work Sharp designed the attachment the way they did instead of simply providing a built-in rest for the knife. As soon as I saw this attachment, I bought it and the blade sharpener at the same time. It does an excellent job of supporting the knife and providing the correct angle. It is reasonably sturdy and is certainly more competitively priced than other aftermarket rests that I have seen. As others have noted, the bed attachment is way too loose and will slide right into your grinding belt. One reviewer suggested drilling a hole through the bed and attaching it with a screw and wingnut. I don't like this idea because you do need to be able to slide the bed in and out, depending on the angle that you are grinding at. I simply took a small piece of blue painters' tape and wrapped it around the bottom of the bed to hold it in place. It works quite well and is easily removed to reposition the bed. If the designer is reading this review, a simple series of click-stops molded into the bed could have solved the entire problem. I would never have purchased the blade attachment for my knife sharpener if I hadn't seen this little gadget. It is well worth the price.

This tool works, but you’ll need some masking tape to get the best results. I recommend using tape to make the setup more stable and secure, and adding extra tape at the tip to protect the blade from scratching against the plastic during sharpening. A locking mechanism on the side would be a great improvement to prevent the top from sliding during use. As a beginner, I practiced for about an hour on a CPM-20CV blade at a 15° angle. I found that instead of pressing the blade tightly against the support bar, using it simply as a guide helped me maintain better balance. Mistakes are inevitable when learning, but with practice, this tool can significantly accelerate your learning curve. It’s a lot like learning to ride a bicycle — you start with two training wheels for support, then one, and eventually you don’t need them at all. This guide can serve as those “training wheels” for sharpening, helping you build skill and confidence over time.

would not fix the base was to wide, returned for a refund. Would have work great if it had fitted.

Fits well (did need a little tape inside fit, now tight). Works perfectly. Hard to believe work sharp did not include a riser.

It is made to cheap does not stay in place flimsy save your money. Do not buy this product.
