cons outweigh pros (so many foibles esp. outside sensor not weatherproof). Potential to be useful
CONS-need to keep it connected to a USB power supply to ensure the screen stays on-a bit of a faff to set up (so much beeping)-external unit requires AAA batteries-batteries are not included-buttons beep with every press (loudly), can’t turn off-no internal battery, if you unplug it from USB (or take out batteries), it resets and you have to program it all over again-outdoor sensor is not weatherproof.-from a user-interface point of view, I think the the cute little scene on the left (that takes so much screen real estate) could be used much more productively (e.g. to have a larger temperature screen)PROS-useful info-wireless outside unit-can set alarms (though I won’t be doing that, I prefer to use my watch)-can run on USB without batteries inside (in fact, they stress to _not_ plug in USB if there are batteries inside)NOTES-ok, how can you have an external sensor for a weather station that is _not_ weatherproof? What a poor design (the outside wall of my office is not close to any overhang or shelter for the outside sensor, I’m experimenting with plastic bags, but they look unsightly).-I had high hopes for this device. When it works (when fully set up), it works ok, and shows useful info, but there are several drawbacks that make me reconsider its use (esp. resetting after power change, so annoying!).MY STAR RATINGS:1* substandard, mostly cons2** barely acceptable, cons outweigh the pros3*** meets the basic requirements, cons balance the pros4**** good product, pros outweigh the cons5***** exceptional, all (or almost all) pros

Works well, needs mains power for the display to be on all the time. Set up a little frustrating
Overall this works well and the display is quite good but I think for the price I had hoped it would be a little better. The outdoor sensor requires two AAA batteries which are not included, the indoor sensor takes three AAA batteries if you don't want to run this off the mains, also not included. A USB cable is provided but no mains plug. The provided USB cable is also quite short, measures around one metre. So if you are not placing this right next to somewhere when you can run it from the mains you will have to use batteries and so the display will only light up when you press the button on the unit. Oh, and there are several warnings in the packaging about not running this from the mains with batteries in the device. Before setting the time and date on the device put batteries in the outdoor sensor and then turn on/add power to the main unit. I didn't do it this way and then could not get to the device to connect to the outdoor sensor, it seems it looks for it when you first turn it on.Set up was slow but okay. You have to use the buttons on the back to set the time/day/month and year. In doing this, if powered by batteries the screen goes blank every few seconds and you have to press the button to bring the display up so you can continue. Also every time you press one of the buttons on the back you get a very loud beep(there is no volume control). One very frustrating thing if when you remove batteries or change the power source the unit resets and you have to set the time/day/month and year all over again. I had to reset the unit in order for it to connect to the outdoor sensor and then I had to set the time/day/month and year all over again. Its one of the most irritating devices I've set up for some time. The display is bright when lit, its not crystal clear on black like in the photos, the sections are coloured and there is a lot of reflection due to the surface but it is very readable. I had hoped the little weather picture would do more than it does, all that happens is different sections appear depending on the weather, there is only one scene and that is all.I does work well, the unit was able to pick up the outdoor sensor fine and it seems accurate to our other weather device. I should add the outdoor sensor is not weather proof and needs to be placed somewhere dry.I think this could all be better with a longer power cable and with providing a plug in power cable and batteries for the sensor, as you can't use it without. I would also welcome a volume control for the beeps and if there were an inbuilt battery so it doesn't lose all its settings every time you change the batteries or power source.
