Amazing book

Incredibles 2 is, without a doubt, one of Pixar's greatest technical triumphs. Visually it is stunning, with the amount of personality worked so seamlessly into the characters' body language and facial expressions, as well as the beautiful geometric retro-futuristic environments, being the some of highlights. If you're looking for gorgeous spreads of the latter - the architecture - you are in luck. A large portion of the book is dedicated to showing off the stylish interiors and extravagant buildings the characters visit throughout, and those illustrations really are beautiful and sweeping. Unfortunately, the former - the character design - is a bit lacking, which was disappointing for me and why I've deducted a star. Two of the more stylish and interesting new characters, Evelyn and Winston Deavor, only have two and a half pages between them. Evelyn most bafflingly neglected, given her fascinatingly unique body language, as well as the amount of amazing wardrobe changes and symbolic style evolution she goes through across the film. I can only imagine the amount of pre-production artwork that went into her design and there's barely any of it here for some reason. Possibly spoiler related, but that seems silly given if you're buying this artbook you've likely already seen the movie! It's definitely an artbook worth owning though. There are storyboards a-plenty, as well as sections covering the interesting changes made to the plot. There's also a section at the end of the book dedicated to unused designs, including one for Frozone's wife, Honey, and some cool looking unused supers.

I libri della serie "The Art of" dedicati a scoprire tutti i retroscena della lavorazione dei film animati DIsney-Pixar, sono sempre un piacere per gli occhi e non solo. Anche questo dedicato alla celebre famiglia di supereroi è ricco di retroscena, schizzi, bozzetti e vere e prorie opere d'arte digitali. Anche se l'unica pecca che ho riscontrato rispetto agli altri, è l'eccessivo focus sull'esplorazione delle ambientazioni e della architetture del film, a discapito dei personaggi vecchi e nuovi, dei quali mi sarebbe piaciuto scoprire molte cose in più.
