Let me start by saying this is one of the most elaborate and satisfying builds I had to do. I have had some experience building smaller kits made of Mini Blocks. The mini blocks are a little harder to handle and are not compatible with Lego parts, however, they allow much more detailed models in a a more compact footprint This ship took me about 40 hours to build, but considering it's made of nearly 3400 pieces, and the majority very small ones, I did pretty well (I think). When finished, this is something to behold, beautiful design, and fairly large at about 25" (L) x 17" (H) x 6" (W). The instructions are mostly good, I appreciated the fact that the the various stages were built around bricks that were packaged with the stage number, so I didn't have to open all the packs to find the required part, only the packs numbered for that section. Now everything was perfect though, there was an issue where 2 sections that were supposed to be mirrored (L & R) were shown as all Right only, but that was easily fixed. The one missing instructions was the LED light layout. The kit includes and LED string for illuminating the interior, but no instructions at all on where or how to route the lights. Last but not least, some small parts, namely some gold colored chains that were used around the display stand, needed some cleanup, as they exhibited quite a bit of flashing. Those couple of small issues not withstanding, this is a great kit, and a awesome bang for the buck. A definite thumbs up.

PIECES are MINI BRICKS, as in smaller and therefore NOT COMPATIBLE with the standard size bricks which Lego uses. The product title is incorrect when it claims compatibility with Lego and the "Frequently Asked" section is correct when it claims NOT compatible with Lego. You see some of these people reviewing this claiming its compatible with Lego? Well I don't know what they're even looking at - did they even open the box when they wrote their review? This is a Zhe Gao product and they always put a red "mini" icon in their carton artwork whenever the kit uses mini bricks, and there it is right there in the bottom right corner "mini". So just to be clear this is a MINI brick set. INSTRUCTIONS are split into two large staple bound booklets, a bit longer in length than standard printer paper. Now what I was looking for when I got into this was how clear the printing was going to be because black pieces need to either be printed with top notch clarity, or greyed out, or edged in white which is just messy. This manual is printed quite clearly and you should have no problem dealing with all these black pieces stacking up. It also uses edge highlighting of the active step pieces to further aid you. Being as this is a very large model I was also looking for 1:1 scale or close enough, as well as a very spaced layout and both these criteria were met. TLDR; the manual is good quality and the steps should flow easily for any builder capable of a high piece count set. BAGS are numbered and instructions have notations as for when to open what. CARTON is retail style, fully illustrated, sturdy and ready to wrap. DESIGN well this isn't my first ship or first large ship. I've done MK's 3700 piece Dutchman and this is about the same in piece count. But what I'd never done before is a ship with an interior cutout. I thought that was so cool, leaving one side exposed. I've built ships where I piece in beautiful detailing below deck but then its covered up and never seen again. This one puts the interior on display or you can flip it around and you've got your complete hull. So cheers for this design. MINOR CRITICISM for creases in the fabric sails. Argggg, this is something so many mfgs do, even the good ones like Zhe Gao, and unfortunately it happened here. Had a minor crease throughout each sail due to how it was placed in the carton. Thankfully it is correctable by ironing but on the absolutely lowest heat and even then let it cool down further before trying. Minor annoyance, not going to take a star off, but beware it could happen to you. SUGGESTION Ship building is probably the only time I get out the brick hammer (small hobby hammer meant to ensure bricks are fully seated). And I do this because the stronger you lay that keel the more forgiving all the topside work will be later on particularly when dealing with breakage resulting from rigging mast and sail. Not that its absolutely necessary. but it helps.

I will never buy this brand again this is the most horrible Lego brand that I have ever seen and we bought many through Amazon the pieces won't stay together they constantly fall apart it is horrible I will think twice before I buy again

I am giving this set 3 stars because there were some parts that were fun to build, and i love how it turned out. However, I strongly recommend buying a different brand. The finished product looks great, but the aggravation of putting this together was something else. I knew these were mini blocks when i bought the set, so that was not a concern. Overall, the blocks went together well. I dropped the smallest pieces a lot, but i figure that's my own fault. I'm not always coordinated. The parts were in numbered bags. Although there is still some sorting needed, at least all the parts needed for part 2 are in the bags labeled "2", etc. The set comes with some figurines, which I thought was a fun surprise. It also comes with a tool for taking apart mistakes, which is a Godsend for getting the little pieces apart (and sometimes even putting them together). As for the instructions, there were several times that the instructions were confusing, or they were flat out wrong. Thankfully, I was able to figure it out. The instructions are mostly pictures, but there are some random parts written in chinese. Since i don't speak chinese, i can't tell you if what was written was important or not. There are lights with this set, but how to set them up is totally left to your imagination, apparently. They are mentioned once (in a picture, that is), and the image was less than informative. There are parts of the ship that are not build with structural integrity in mind. You have to hold your fingers or a tool underneath to support certain areas as you add pieces on top, or it will all cave in. And you want to remember which areas of the ship have no support. If you don't, and push on one of those areas later, you will end up with a headache. I put building block sets together to relax, and can hold on to my zen pretty well with most sets., regardless of the brand or block size. This set, however, had me ready to smash it apart several times and just throw it in the trash. As is, if the instructions had been more clear throughout, I may have risked super gluing this together as I went. However, since the instructions were difficult at times, I had to go back, take apart, and redo multiple parts. This made me afraid to enlist the super glue If you want a building block set of the Queen Anne's Revenge, I again strongly recommend you try a different brand. I will not buy any more sets from this brand in the future.

My son loved putting together this set. Over all the directions were easy to follow, it made a really cool play set, and for the money we paid it was great. There were no missing pieces with this set.
