well of course you have to plug this in...how else is it supposed to work, on thoughts and prayers?? anyway...when I bought this camera, I also purchased a USB extender cord, and some clips to hang the wire neatly, everything arrived together which was a nice bonus, I found a good spot for the camera, (I paired the camera to the app before mounting it, you need to show the camera a QC code your phones app generates to pair it, and I would have had to climb the ladder again to do that) set up was easy, the mounting screws it comes with are kinda small and flimsy, so I used my own, one thing that bothered me during installation was the position of 2 of the 3 screw holes on the base, one screw hole is easy to access with a screwdriver or screw gun, but the other two are positioned in a way that wont let you hold the screwdriver straight because the camera itself is in the way, not the end of the world, just a bit awkward having to screw at an angle, once installed, I was amazed, nice clear picture on my phone app, , there is NO APP FOR PC, however the seller did provide a website where I could link my camera, so its almost the same, except I don't see a settings options there, moving the camera around is easy, but there is a lag from when you tap the icon to when the camera actually starts moving, making it... not so easy to pinpoint, again, not the end of the world, after messing with it a bit you get the hang of it, night mode is where I was really impressed, my current cameras only see about 20 or 30 feet before the rest fades to black at night, this camera sees everything in the dark, and you can even choose night vision in color, I turned off the flood light and tracking features, so I can't comment on those, I did try the intercom, it also has a tiny lag from when you speak, to when sound comes out of camera, but it does work like its supposed to, I can talk to people and listen as well, over all Im very happy with the camera so far, it is wifi, so video won't always be as smooth as a wired camera, but for me, its just fine, I really just want it to monitor my driveway when Im way out back, Ive only had it 2 days, if it keeps working this way, then its well worth the price, thank you

NOT SPONSOR... I had this for about 6 months now. There were a few bugs in the beginning but LaView fixed the issue with an update. What make this a decent purchase. Be warn this is a wired system and can not be extended with a USB extension unless it's 120V extension cord. Video Quality 4.5 Stars -- Enough to see but can not see with 20 feet Quickness Logging in 4.5 Stars -- This is my go to camera before Ring and Wyze Pan & Tilt -- 4 Stars -- Some lag sometimes ... But does track motion . Night Vision 4 Stars -- Enough to see again Notifications - 4.5 Stars -- Pretty dang quick Speak and Mic -- No opinion never need to use it. Spotlight --4.0 Stars Bright enough and not super bright to blind you. But Alexa can not turn on light. Smart Home Devices - 4.5 Stars -- Great with Alexa. and will stay on until you say go home. Best of all with this is No Monthly fee's. The Motion detection has a fixed spot where you set it too and will return to original spot where you set it too. Tracking motion is sweet. Works as a Security Camera that wont turn off on your spare phone or tablet. This is my 24 hours monitor camera. Ring camera's allow to stay on for 10 -12 minutes and then you have to reconnect. Did I mention you can have multiuser at the same time. In other word. The second person and you can see what going on while that person is somewhere else. You won't get kicked off like Arlo. Only if Wyze had a Outdoor Pan Tilt camera then this can be a challenge. Great Wifi Camera !!

I bought this camera to use in my barn so I could monitor my pregnant goats. Works like a charm. Nice picture. Easy setup. Will likely get more cameras Update - dropping my review from 5 stars to 2. I bought 4 more of these cameras after a recent break-in. Previously I was using the original camera for a live view only. After trying to use the new cameras for actual security surveillance, they are not very usable. Without an SD card, they do not capture actual video for playback. I paid extra money for the Premium Cloud Pro+ service but it still only captures a still image, not video. The AI analytics are often wrong or don't work and the software doesn't send me a real time alert notification to my phone! Basically I have to check every morning to see if anything happened overnight and then see if the camera happened to catch a picture of whatever triggered the motion detector. Not useful to prevent theft or break-ins. 2nd update - Dropping my review down to ZERO stars. After my original good experience, I purchased 5 of these PTZ cameras. The experience continues to worsen. This weekend my husband drove our tractor all around the property. NOT A SINGLE CAMERA out of 5 picked him up. Not even the camera I have 10 ft from the tractor and pointed specifically at it! Then last night, something trashed the tack room in our barn. Again, not a single image captured of this event. That was the last straw. What good is a security camera that doesn't capture events? What am I paying for with the Cloud Pro + service if it doesn't capture anything? Will be replacing all of these cameras with something that works.
