I first look for no plastic packaging or reduced plastic packaging if no plastic isn't available, and then I look for which product works well. In this case, the oxy clean works very well, and the packaging is cardboard recycle, and no plastics. So I am happy. After reading some other reviews, I see some are saying pods aren't dissolving, and see most have from loading washing machines, but my machine is top loading and i drop pod in while water is filling and before putting in clothes, so perhaps that is key to success....I don't know. I have never had a problem in any way. Clothes come out great. I recently switched from a liquid, plastic jug laundry detergent (and plastic pouch refills to jug) to a laundry concentrate sheet that is dry and comes in cardboard packaging. In this case, Arm & Hammer laundry detergent sheets, which has the added benefit of very little space storage and no accidental spills. It works well. I do tear the sheet up into smaller pieces to dissolve while water fills machine and then add clothes. Never a problem.

Love this product, as I am eliminating as much plastic from my purchases as possible.

Pluses. Easy to handle and use compared to powders and liquids. Comes in paper box vs plastic bottle or plastic zip-top bag. Seems to do the job. I've dropped a star because the I've read negative things about the plastic-like dissolvable coating. Could the stuff be compressed into a large tablet?

When I use a Dropps pod with my front-load HE washer set for "Eco-Warm" the protective coating around the pod does not fully disintegrate and I find it wadded up and stuck to one of my pieces of laundry after I take the laundry out of the dryer. So, I don't recommend using with lower than "Warm" setting. Otherwise, they seem fine and do not leave a scent. I appreciate not adding another plastic container to the environment.
