Absolutely worth it.
I have purchased very expensive shou puerh and I think this is a great tea for the price. I hope its organic. They say they have been aging tea (fermenting) since 2009, they are not saying the tea you will receive is from 2009. This brick is really hard to pick at. You need something like a wooden box and a good handled pointy tool. Not a sharp knife. I use 15g in a 200ml clay pot with about 150-180ml of boling water and steep for about 1 minute. I use a 250ml insulated glass gong Dao bei. I like that dark punch, makes me take a Trump. If I drink more than 15g I wont sleep. This tea helps my GF digestion and sets after the second steep regular bowel movements. I brush my teeth after drinking tea to prevent yellowing.

Amazing Beginner/Cheap Compressed Puer
This is a great compressed puer brick for beginners, or for anyone looking for a solid puer at an affordable price. Mine was dry, no mold or issues like another person mentioned. It breaks apart well with a tea pick, but is not loose or fall apart. I steep a 5 oz piece about 6 times (or 3, if I use a lot of water) and 7 oz piece 8 times, but it is bolder. Always rinse for 20 seconds, discard water, let sit for 1 minute, then start steeping. Would highly recommend to anyone new to puer, compressed tea, or someone looking for an affordable option. I drink this tea almost every day.

Beware of scams when purchasing Pu-erh tea....this item is no exception!
I have been purchasing Pu-erh tea for over a decade and have come to learn a good bit about the trade. As this type of dark tea is the only oxidized, fermented, and aged tea that also gains in value as it ages, it makes for the target of many scams which I have been subjected to here online, and also when travelling in Asia. It is very easy for a dishonest vendor to advertise and sell Pu-erh tea that is not the proper age, but there are ways for the experienced tea connoisseur to recognize the scam. As a lover of tea, I have learned that I am also sensitive to the product, and for all six types of tea with the sole exception of shou Pu-erh, I cannot drink the beverage on an empty stomach without resulting nausea. The secret to being able to drink Pu-erh on an empty stomach is the fermentation. And the tea being reviewed here has not been properly fermented, if at all. I also seriously doubt the advertised age listed as 2009. Every time I consume this tea it makes me nauseous unless I eat something first, which of course is not necessary for a truly fermented and aged Pu-erh tea. The tea brick that I received also is excessively high in caffeine, more typical of black tea than a low caffeine Pu-erh. As such, I believe this tea brick being sold is simply a low grade (highly compressed small tea pieces without any whole leaf present) fully oxidized black tea, perhaps aged a few years or not, but certainly not for 14 years as advertised. Which brings to mind that this tea also does not come with the typical manufacturer's tag embedded into the tea. The only description is what is said in the advertisement on Amazon. Don't believe it! Lastly, this tea came with an off taste which I attribute to the bamboo leaf wrapping. Once I removed the tea brick from the bamboo and let it air in a rice paper wrapper, the odd taste went away.

Distinct taste of mold
Tea had a distinct mold flavor. Item could have been part of lot that was water damaged and became moldy in transit...but was still added to inventory because the contamination was not visible.

Great fermented Pu'er tea
I first tried fermented Pu'er tea a few years ago and was hooked from the first cup. This kind of tea is made by allowing the moist tea leaves to ferment like it was going to be bread, then at some point they press the fermented leaves into bricks and dry them. For some reason processing the tea in this manner enhances the quality of the caffeine; after drinking a cup of this in the morning, I'm suddenly outside and enjoying my work. If you haven't tried Pu'er tea yet, you should.

Robust tea normally for special occasions or to honor a guest
Robust flavor and rich dark color and an amazing aroma. I use half of what I normally use in dry weight for most tea. Packaged in traditional Chinese fashion. You will need the tool to easily separate the amount of tea you want from the brick, but you may already have another tool in your kitchen that works as well... Treat yourself, you won't be sorry you did!!!

I was not sure if I should buy it, because reviews were sooo different. But all quality alternatives for comparable prices were not in stock. Delivery was somewhat delayed. But finally the taste is good. We drink it like gun cha and it is good for it. We put a bit more tea than usual and it gives bold taste. I ordered 2 more. Quality to price ratio is the best for today

the delivery is fast, but nothing. It give you really dark color but no tea aroma, taste like a water, I knew it is not a high end tea, I do expect that but not bad like this, don't waste your money try something else.

It is false leading as it was discribed as year 2009 tea. Pu'er tea value is very much related to how long it has been properly aged. This tea was made in 2015 as per the photo. Though it brewed in dark brown colour, the taste and aroma are not complex but rather very simple. Earthy or smokey is not at all of what you get from this tea. Comparing with my other 2006 batch of tea, this one is light flavored, smoothwr and sweeter. Hope they correct the product year!
