Had to use a hammer to punch through a couple shells, but generally flipping the coconut upside down and mashing down usually does the trick. Overall it’s better than trying to butcher knife them open.

These punches do in fact work well to put a hole in a young coconut.No need to set the punch head against the eyes, but the coconut needs to have some fiber to set the punch into.I recommend whapping the base of the punch against a cutting board, since the edges will leave a ding in your countertop
