This was recommended by my ceramics instructor, and I love it. It's not only good for wedging, but it's also nice to put projects on to dry out and prep for bisque. The handle allows me to carry it to and from class, and then it tucks nicely in my storage cart when not in use. The material does wick away some of the moisture from new clay, or recycled clay that's too wet. I rolled and cut clay on this, and it did leave a few scratches on the board.

The Portable Extra Strong Clay Wedging Board for Pottery is exceptionally well-made and has been a fantastic addition to my pottery tools. I primarily use it to wedge my recycled clay at home, and I’ve found it very effective for this purpose. One of my favorite features is its portability; since I have a small crafting room, it’s essential to be able to store things easily when I’m not using them. This board’s compact design allows me to tuck it away conveniently, saving valuable space. The edges are well-sealed, ensuring durability and preventing any moisture from seeping in, which is crucial for long-term use. The board itself is also very sturdy, providing a stable surface for clay work. Overall, I’m very satisfied with its quality and functionality.

I'll be honest -- my expectation when receiving this was that it was going to be an overpriced piece of half-inch MDF with a handle of dubious use cut out of it. And, that maybe could be the case. A 2'x2' half inch MDF board (more than twice the surface area of this) can be bought any big box hardware store for less.But I was impressed by it, and I can see a value to it. A 2x2 board isn't something you're going to bring to a community studio or workspace. Its not something you can tuck into a closet at home. And they aren't well sealed, particularly on the edges.This board is nicely sealed, including on all the edges, which can make a big difference if you're getting them wet. Its easy for moisture to work its way into MDF and start to swell it. And the handle does make it easy to move around.The space is good for wedging smaller amounts of clay. I think I'd probably be annoyed if I was working 10lbs+, but I have larger wedging boards for that. For smaller jobs, this is definitely going to be my go-to. Very satisfied with it.

This is a really well made wedging board, everything is nicely sealed, it's a great solid weight and just the right size. I don't know what they did but the board just feels right to hold and use and I say this already owing a much more well known portable wedging board which now is just sitting on a shelf. For all these boards, the seal is important. You want something to be a little absorbent so the clay won't slide when wedging but not so much so that it starts to swell and/or warp with moisture or cleaning. This is holding up great so far. I'd also note that extra inch and a half in depth front to back makes a surprisingly big difference in working space. Bottom line: much nicer than expected and very practical.

I love using this to mold my clay on. I can use it at home or in class. Easy to clean, and the handle makes it easy to carry. Although I use it for my clay projects, you can use it for any of your craft projects when you want to keep the table need and clean. This worked well for my intended use. Love it!

I am surprisingly impressed with this wedging board! I was really not expecting more than a slab of MDF with a cut-out handle. And of course that's what it is, but it is really great quality—smooth edges and surface, nice weight, and did anyone else notice the POEM on the packaging? Cute touch! Rhymes aside, this wedging board is useful in multiple ways. You can, naturally, wedge your clay on it (I'd recommend putting a piece of grippy rug pad underneath to help keep it from slipping and sliding), roll out slabs for hand-building, sculpt on it, and set your pieces to dry on it. It's large enough to be able to wedge a fairly large block of clay, but a great size to carry and bring with you or stash it away when you're finished. As I type this, I have it on one of my chrome shelves, holding a set of leather dry pots. Good value, and worth buying 3 or 4 for your home studio!
