Nicely made tool - works well
Nice to have 3 different sizes. I used this to rehab a Fender Thinline Telecaster (thin frets), and an old 80's era Washburn HB30 semi-hollowbody, with medium frets. The file could have a bit of a finer tooth to the abrasives, but it does knock down wear marks in frets very nicely and gradually. And, it does not contact the fret board (you should tape the wood of the fretboard, and tape the pickups so metal doesn't stick to the magnets). The wood handle is nicely shaped and provides good grip and allows you to work the file with a light or heavy touch. Spend the extra cash for this tool over the cheaper versions, it's money well spent, for this thing will never ever wear out! It's a lifetime tool.

Feels expensive. Solid, and skillfully crafted tool
Been playing guitar for about 28 years and used to have a guitar tech that would setup my guitars. The last few years I have been getting more into DIY setup and repairs. I spent several months investigating tools needed to accomplish a fret leveling and crowning and read hundreds of reviews on dozens of products ranging from a price point of about $5, up to the low $100's. This fret crowning tool is priced right at the sweet spot of getting much more than you pay for. The metal used is super solid, and dense, and has some serious weight to it, which in my opinion, makes it feel very high quality. The crowning areas are very well machined and hold up very nicely during and after use. The handle is also very solid, and is attached to the file nice and tight, there is no play, or looseness at all. Definitely recommend this. I got this during amazon prime day for about $23 which was the lowest price I have ever seen it at.

Works for me.
I'm not having the problems that some reviewers are reporting. It even does an exellent job rounding the top of my classical guitar's bridge saddle. It makes an even, rounded staring point before intonating the g string. (If your so inclined). All in all , mine has proven to be an extremely useful tool for an affordable price. It's worth it even if I only use it for bridge saddles. I do better with straight triangular files for fret crowning and I recommend learning to do it that way. I did test this file on the eighteenth fret of my classical guitar . I marked the fret with red magic marker and it worked fine with the narrow groove on the file. It didn't touch the top of the fret. If this company was having problems, it must have resolved them. I'm well pleased with this tool.

little hard to control for inexperienced people
So I finally got around to leveling and crowning mine and a friends guitar neck. I bought the version 3 (latest version as of writing this review). Can't say how it compares to the other versions. It worked as well as the users using it. I found it challenging to be consistent across the neck. I also noticed where we were filing it seemed to lose some of the aggressiveness. The first one needed only a few strokes, after each fret it needed more and more strokes. Tried cleaning with a brush I found (not the right tool for the job) and it helped, but still was not as quick as the first. I found it challenging to tell where the other side was, so keeping the crown of the file on top of the crown of the fret was difficult. I'll chock this up to user experience but achieving a consistent thin line across the fret was challenging. I think using this to rough in the crown and follow with safe corner triangle file would have been better for dialing in the crown. Overall it crowned the frets satisfactorily, but was difficult for a novice to do it great. It worked good enough for me which is why I'm giving this 5 stars.

Best way to crown frets
I love this Baroque fret crowning file. I just used it to crown a whole set of medium frets on a LP kit I'm making. I also used it to crown two new jumbo replacement frets I installed. Easy to use with three different sized grooves. The diamond grit works beautifully without removing too much material. rounded edges outside the cutting grooves protect the fret board and binding too. Saved me a huge block of time compared with doing file work on each side of each fret. I highly recommend this tool, it's well worth the price.

It's OK, not great
This product is OK. I would not recommend for professional use, but OK for occasional use. I bought it because I was trying to be cheap and not have to pay for the Stew Mac. I also have a Fret Guru, which is really good, but I wanted something for more narrow frets.

New version coming soon is great!!! This company cares!
Like some others, I bought one of these after seeing it used on YouTube and wound up with the 2nd version, which had some design problems. Rather than just write a bad review I decided to reach out to the company. Turns out they were aware of the issues and were already working hard on a new design. They were great to communicate with, treated me with respect, and clearly were very concerned that they make a product the customers will really like. Along with some others, they sent me a demo of the new design to try out and give my feedback, free of charge. Turns out they listened to everyone's complaints and redesigned it to fix all the issues. I've used the new version (not released yet as of March 6th, 2019 but I believe they said it will be available in April) on three guitar necks now and it works wonderfully. You still have to be careful and work slowly, but that's the same with any tool when crowning frets. It's really awesome how quickly it gets the job done. I can crown an entire fretboard in a matter of minutes, with really great results. I am incredibly happy with this tool. This isn't advertised for using on bass guitar frets but after leveling the frets on one (Fender Precision Bass) I thought I'd see if the largest size on this tool would work for that. Turns out it does! It was perfect. I crowned the entire board quickly, making what I thought would be a much longer job far easier. Another win for this product! If you couldn't tell, I am overall very impressed with this tool. After three guitars and a bass it shows no sign of wearing down at all. I'm betting it will last quite awhile. If it doesn't, I'll come back and let it be known. Highly Recommended!!!

I purchased this file to finish off my fret work when crowning and levelling the frets on my acoustic guitars. The other file I had purchased was supposed to file the sides and leave some work on top of the fret for this file. Unfortunately the other file was not usable due to it's poor design. So since I only had this file to work with I decided to try a few frets high on the neck to see if it would work. Happily it worked great, the file is very sharp and quickly took the sides down with very little pressure allowing me to leave a very thin fret center. I crowned two acoustic guitars using this file and it is still cutting great so I expect years of use remaining, highly recommend, it's all you really need in a fret crowning file.

The first thing that I noticed is that it has some good weight to it. Very happy that this is not some hollow piece that is made from some cheap pot metal, this is really nice quality. For the guys and gals just getting into doing some fret work you will 100% need to also get a fret rocker, a leveling beam, some green masking tape and either fret erasers or nail buffing blocks ( I use the blocks because they are cheap AF and work soooooo well ) I would also recommend watching a good amount of youtube tutorials to make sure you are comfortable doing this on your own.

IT DOES NOT FIX FRET END / FRET SPROUT IT'S ONLY FOR TOP OF THE FRET IN ORDER TO LOWER THE FRETS DOWN. Good and simple but not what I need...

It's ok, scratches the hell out of the frets.
