Yes. A large plastic Bowl is 9.5 litres. The recommended amount of water to add for brass items is : 6 to 12 litres.

Will it work on a brass door threshold? Can I just cover the threshold with the fluid or must it go Into a bath?

The solution is so corrosive you would have a problem masking off whatever is either side of the threshold so yes you should contain it somehow. If you need to clean the threshold in situ I suggest you use something like Brasso instead.

If there are any electric elements on your kettle I would clean using a sponge and by hand rather than immersion. As long as the item is brass and not coated brass this should be fine to use but check with a hidden area first. You may be better using Brasso or similar cleaning product.
