La Crosse Technology L78571 Wireless Color Forecast Station

This is my 2nd La Crosse weather system. I have one in my kitchen and one in the master bathroom. I love that I can see the weather and temperature at a quick glance, along with the time. They have bright graphics and are only 7"w by 6"h. I highly recommend these little weather stations!

This is the perfect weather station, easy to read and accurate. I like the size. It is easy to place almost anywhere. We chose the upstairs hallway which gives us the 'data' for the start of the day! Great buy.

I bought this because my outdoor sensor went bad after 4 years. I originally bought the weather station at Costco. The price for a new sensor I felt was too high, so I figured for an extra 10 or 12 bucks I'll just get a new weather station with sensor from La Crosse. Good news, the new sensor sends the signal to my new and old weather station and that was a pleasant surprise. Now I have one at the back of the house and one up front.

I got this to put in my workshop so I can see the time without having to look at a watch and also to check temperature and humidity. Spent more on this one as it seemed to have what I wanted plus a nice color display. It arrived packed in bubble wrap in a plastic bag that looked like it was packed up in somebody's garage. It is fairly small at around 6.5 by 7". Once I put the batteries in the outside unit and plugged in the main one it became clear that the main unit was way off both for temperature and humidity - see picture (with the main and extra units right next to each other with one by another company for comparison). I checked with an independent monitor that I know tends to be low for temperature. I think the outdoor module is accurate but the indoor temperature registered three degrees too warm and 6% too low for humidity. I would have returned it but it came packed in plastic that you had to destroy to get to the device. The outdoor unit is easy to mount but the main unit has to be set on a table or counter - no easy way to mount it. Another problem is that the display shows the outside temperature and humidity plus the weather icons very prominently but the clock and indoor conditions are quite small, so if you wanted to use it primarily as a clock (as I did) then it is not the best choice. I assumed maybe you could modify which display went where but that is not possible. I will use it until it breaks but then will replace it with something from another company - this one is not worth the money. The company is based in Wisconsin but the product is made in China so will probably end up in the trash sooner rather than later. Would definitely not buy the same again.

Batteries or AC, I use AC and it works great. Very bright with 2 dim settings. I've compared it to another outdoor and indoor thermometer and it's right on the numbers. I place the transmitter about 40' away outside.

Product quality so far as well as delivery schedule and accuracy speed was excellent.

Used daily to monitor the weather, inside and outside.
