I bake my own bread, either by hand or in my bread maker. I've got several bread knives and also a more expensive wooden bread slicer.This cheap bread slicer is quite good. It's very plastic, but it works.You can vary the width of the slices as it has several slots in it.You'll need a decent long bread knife to he able to fit through the slots.My bread slices with this are very neat. I'm happy with it. I find it easy to use.Once you slice it, you easily take the slice out of the slot behind the slice. You do one slice at a time.This isn't a slicer for you if you want to slice the whole loaf in one go.It also isn't a slicer for round loaves.The bread slicer is easy to clean and it folds up for storage.So far, I'm happy with it. 🍞

I decided to get this as I’m not good at cutting loaves straight. They either end up as thick wedges or slivers. The item arrived but was damaged where the bottom piece connects to the top piece, one of the little pieces that went through the holes had broken off. It wasn’t bad enough to send back so I went ahead and tried it using a loaf I’d made earlier.I put the knife through the same slot on either side but found I had to keep readjusting it as it kept coming out. It’s was difficult to stop it moving about as I cut through the loaf so I use some non slip matting I had which did work.I did get an even slice from it but I’m not sure it was worth the hassle. I will persevere but I don’t know how long the item will last or whether I’ll end up throwing it in frustration.

My parents always have unsliced bread. And wouldn't have it any other way. My dad can now cut perfect slices despite a slight tremor. A welcome and useful gift for them.

There are 4 slots to slide your bread knife into to give slice thicknesses of approx. 15mm, 20mm, 25mm. and 30mm.I baked the tin loaf in my photos and after letting it cool for 90 minutes I tried to slice it. I didn’t get the best results as the bread was too fresh. I sliced the rest of the loaf 18 hours later and got excellent results as can be seen in my photos. I used the second (20mm) slot and am really pleased with the uniformity of the slices. Perfect for lunch today.I am happy to recommend this bread slicer for anyone who, like me, struggles to slice bread evenly. For home baking I recommend leaving the loaf for longer than the 90 minutes I did before slicing. Shop bought bread should be ok as soon as you get it home.
