Rescue with anxiety - instant success
We recently brought home a Rescue, now training for her job as my ESA. She’s a little over a year ago a half old, extremely intelligent, and great at her work in home.Outside my small 2 person family is a completely different issue. She has extreme anxiety, to the point of seeming aggressive. She truly isn’t- it’s a phobia. Anyone who can wait for an episode to be over gets to see her at her sweetest. She’s even more afraid of vehicles. We don’t have to be near anyone for her to panic, she just has to see them.I got this mask because throughout her time here she’s done good at so much of her training, and I noticed if I could keep her from seeing the people or moving cars she was zoning on, it’s much easier to settle her down. Her last family used a shock collar, which isn’t really good for a dog’s anxiety and could possibly be the reason for her fear response.Back to this mask. I expected her to need to work up to getting used to wearing it when we go outside, and dislike it at best-case-scenario. I walked a completely different dog today. Even at night. She doesn’t struggle, attempt to remove, or freak out in any way about wearing it. I could not have expected such immediate change for her so soon. This is exactly what she needed, affordably. We can walk near people, cars, anything, and she’s aware but able to stay focused on her task. She trusted me to lead and tell her the steps on the way to the doggy area outside and back home.It may look cheap/may not look or feel like much, but it’s perfect. The light material is great for feeling less restricted, the muzzle band is the size projected and seems much more comfortable than her normal non-mask muzzle she used to wear, and the way it covers her face it still allows plenty of room for her to enjoy the breeze outside. She’s able to actually enjoy sniffing around rather than focusing on her surroundings. This is an absolutely helpful tool for her and I hope this review can help anyone else looking for solutions to a dog that has phobia issues outside the home. We have been looking for anything to help her, and nothing else we’ve tried is so much the right thing. It’s definitely worth a shot. Try it before you give up hope.

Works well for what it is. Seems to be built inside out.
My Sweet Dee is a terror in the car. Barking and lunging at lights and reflection. This mask has helped. She now just whines to get the mask off rather than all the other noise and activity.I will say, though, that it seems to be constructed inside out. There is a label tag that is on the inside of the mask if the straps are placed on correctly. But it still works fine.

This worked for our dog!
We tried soooo many things so help calm our Golden during storms...Rx anxiety meds, CBD oil, thunder shirt, crate...nothing worked. After a few sleepless stormy nights, I stumbled across this calming cap and thought, what the heck, I’ll give it a try. I didn’t think this would work either. But, WOW! This totally calms our dog. It covers her eyes and feels ‘secure’ like she’s hiding, I guess? It’s kinda insane THIS is the solution. Storm starts and I put it on and leave it on until it passes. I got the XL and it fits. The elastic around the snout seems a little snug, but I just keep it as low on the snout as possible. Give it and try if you have a dog that shakes like a leaf, paces, and panics when it storms.

Works better than I expected
This may look funny on your pup, but it effectively reduces visual stimuli in stressful situations. This plus a thunder shirt keeps my boy calm during car rides now.

Extremely bad for dogs.
I am sorry I missed the return deadline, as there were too many pressing things to attend. But this is not about refund.I did not realize that the vision would be completely impaired once the dog wears this. Covering eyes disorientates the dog and the dog either goes very quiet or gets extremely agitated. Neither is good for the dog's psyche. My dog went crazy soon after I took my hands off after buckling. Should not be used with eyes completely covered. I am really sorry I bought his and such products should not be allowed to be sold to make money. It is not good for any dog to be in the dark as though they have suddenly gone blind.

It really works, but hard to use.
I got this for a hyper-active Irish terrier that hates to be groomed. The concept is great, and it does work, however, the straps are either poorly designed or missing something. The strap that goes over the top of the head has no way to attach to the neck straps. I had to remove the plastic piece at the end that the description calls a slider and sew the ends into a loop that the neck strap could be run through to hold it in place. It is as if there was supposed to be another piece that didn't get attached during manufacture. The manufacturer should get rid of the plastic "slider" piece and just lengthen the head strap and sew a loop.

Loved it!
Should have measured the dogs face because the medium is a tad small, but it works wonders on my overly anxious dog. She is more on the larger side of a medium sized dog. I use it when I’m giving her a bath, cleaning out her shedding coat, and clipping her nails and trimming her paw hair. It is much less of a struggle when we put this on. I will buy more for other dogs in the future for sure.

A life saver for car rides with our dog
Our newly rescued dog is very reactive to and stressed by anything moving while he is in the car and would lunge and bark at other cars or bikes through the car windows. He is a large Newfoundlander breed so could not be easily crated within the car and this made our car rides with him very stressful for everyone. BUT this cap works like a dream! We put it on him - which he doesn't resist as its pretty loose and light - and then he immediately calms down and usually sits down and chills for the ride. He is not able to see anything through the nylon in the day time which is what we want since he is just riding in the car and can only see a bit of light if we travel at night so still stays calm. Highly recommend! In fact, we just bought another so we have one in both cars. Thank you!

Game Changer
This is making such a HUGE difference in helping our boxer learn to relax with his nail care. When we first got him, he wore a muzzle and was actually very aggressive. We are still working on Nail Anxiety, but this mask was a game changer! We did need to train him to accept wearing the eye mask with lots of food rewards, but he adapted rather quickly.

This is a blindfold, not a traditional calming cap
To my understanding calming caps are supposed to have mesh so the dogs al am still see something but not details. I actually returned this product because it was a blindfold which wasn’t what I needed. I stuck a flashlight behind it closely and no light shines through it’s that thick.

blinding
The only reason I can see that the dog lays down is because this totally prevents the dog from seeing anything, in effect it makes the dog blind. I thought that this would work as other masks and allow the dog some vision but the nylon is too thick. Will be returning.

Keeps dogs from barking
My dogs barked relentlessly in the car prior to using these calming masks. They are now quiet and relaxed. I'm absolutely amazed.
