A direct replacement for Welsbach Reflex Size One inverted mantles. They are made of plant fiber, and not hazardous materials like the original ones from the 1800s/early 1900s. I have measured them here for your convenience as the description only gives vague measurements, and this should help you decide if they will fit YOUR lamp. The mantles these are exact replicas of, are very common size one mantles that are no longer produced. I have searched all around to find ones that were close enough... these are identical. I hope this saves you a lot of time and searching. Great mantles but VERY DELICATE. PLEASE open the boxes carefully when you get them, and remove them by touching ONLY the ceramic base. They are so brittle they will crumble if you touch them with your hands of flex them in any way. These are formed mantles, and nothing like the cloth camping mantles. It took me forever to find mantles like this that were perfect. They will burn off and carbonize once you light them for the first time... DO NOT TOUCH THEM AFTER FIRST IGNITION, as they will be even MORE delicate. Basically standing ash. HOWEVER if you are careful enough with them, they will last a long time and burn bright. ONCE they do burn out, you can alternatively use "bag type" mantles rated for indoor (if this is where you use them) out door if not, and tie the bag to the ceramic ring, it will work fine, but not as bright and not burn as long. These are great mantles, and will suit your needs, they fit MORE lamps than listed by the company and measure exactly the same as the ones I needed. So if you are looking to restore an old Welsbach gas lamp that uses size one mantles (Like the Model #6 lamp in my photos) then you have found the correct replacement.

These mantles are fragile to handle but when six mantles arrive and they are already perished, completely unusable...that is a problem, bordering on fraud. All six gas mantels were broken like saltines as though they were packaged that way already. Avoid buying this particular brand at all costs, simply a very poor product and a terrible representation of Amazon. Caveat emptor....

Only reason for the 4 star is one was broken during shipment. Vender needs to pack better. Didn’t know how to get a hold of the vender and amazons return descriptions didn’t match any of what I needed.

Correct size. First kind I ordered were too small inside ring/ear diameter for the propane light fixture.

I have ex neighbors in my old hood that doesn’t allow anyone else to touch the gas lamp on the outside of their house. This is my first time using this product and it has been a the best one by far we had used. We is my son and I do this kinds of stuff for the neighbors. I don’t not charge them for anything as they are an elderly couple. I am trying to bring back what most people don’t do. It is to help thy neighbor out. Anyways I normally have to go through a complete box of these but it only took 2 this time. Great Product the value is well worth it cheaper is not always better as stated above I go through many before getting them to stay on. They are well worth it!!!

These mantles were defective. I ordered 3 units, then another 3, one set just blackened and fell apart. I have been buying mantles for my gaslight for about 25 years. I never came across defective pieces in the past.

Wanted to use for an outdoor gas light. Unfortunately had a medical family go on. The day we tried to replace them. But they are way too big to fit on our gas light. To late to return by a day.

Product arrived excellently packaged with no damage. Fit my Humphry lamp. Nice and bright.
