Squier by Fender Debut Collection Telecaster Electric Guitar, Laurel Fingerboard, White Pickguard, Black

I have owned a Squier Strat for about 38yrs, learned on it, gigged on it, recorded with it, and its still going strong, so when I decided time to get a telecaster, tried some Fender and Squier in store but nothing impressed, neck to thick, sound too weak, just felt wrong, then I saw these ! at this price whats to lose ? worst case , return it and carry on looking. Well it arrived, unboxed, examined and tested, here are the pro's and cons. PRO'S:- 1. Very cheap, in other guitars a con. 2. Light weight, thin body so no shoulder ache. 3. SATIN finish to body and neck so no sticky poly when warm. 4. Machine heads tune nicely. 5. Holds tuning once strings changed (as any guitarist does on a new guitar) and stretched. 6. mine arrived intonated and set up sweet. pickups are fine for purpose , ceramics, may change later but no rush. 7. Playability is good enough that I wouldnt think twice over gigging and ideal for learner. 8 . quality and build are above its price point. 9. tuners and saddles are unbranded but work. CONS :- 1. replacement scratch boards not available ( I wanted a black plate on my black guitar) . 2. saddles and tuners unbranded, may swap for fender ones down the line. Yes I know if branded tuners are important Ineed to buy a Fender tele , but with fenders starting at £700 + and the chancellor taxing more and more, I think spending £120 for this, plus £120 for fender tuners and Saddles resulting in a great guitar equal to a basic £700 fender tele for a third the price is a no brainer, but even un tweeked this is a beauty.

Great looking and excellent quality , value for money and great sound

For the money excellent value only had to tune it.it was all set up perfectly I was really surprised at how good the quality was the paint job wasn’t great but what can expect for this price the neck and frets are quite comparable to a much more expensive guitar I own. Sounds a little tinny but hey!

Maybe I’m easily pleased but I’m chuffed to pieces with this guitar. It’s not far off my Fender MIM and Classic Vibe that I’ve had and definitely superior to a Squier Bullet and two HBs I’ve had. Neck is comfy, fingerboard is slick, it’s lightweight and the finish is superb. Far more than a beginners guitar in my book but there were issues. The neck pup didn’t work on neck only which pointed the finger at the switch, quickly sorted with a dab of solder. There was no neck relief so I adjusted the truss rod, lowered the action and applied lemon oil to the dry fingerboard. I’m no luthier but I know a bit, many first timers won’t but with Amazon’s returns policy what have you got to lose. Smashing guitar.

Great value tele at a budget price. Perfect for beginners to mid-range experienced players. Was good to go out the box, after tuning obviously. Neck/frets comfortable to play. Quite lightweight. Overall sound quality is OK - the pickups were not as punchy as I expected for a telecaster, and I ended up replacing/upgrading them to Alnico 5's, which made an instant improvement. Upon swapping the pickups I noticed that the neck pickup was not wired properly, and was not in fact working (hence the lack of punch). Overall I am very pleased with the purchase.

People may be put off by the price, but don’t it’s a Fender Telecaster! I have 5 of them in different configurations (humbuckers, etc) two ‘real’ Fenders and three Squiers and have to say all of the Squiers are better quality! This Debut version from Amazon is the best quality of all, which has shocked me. I was expecting to replace pickups, tuners, etc but there is no need! I have some high quality pickups on some of my others and these hold their own! And a further note is that the Debut has everything that the Sonic and Affinity versions have (apart from string through for Affinity) the satin paintwork is unique to the Debut and in my opinion nicer than the gloss ones! My only mod with be a white pearl scratch plate to make it really pop! Great value for money, forget Temu and Aluexpress and all the Chinese copies this is a Fender! Oh and it played out of the box after tuning and intonating one string which I think is pretty amazing this is no kids learner guitar I have played in bands for nearly 50 years and wish this had been my first Guitar!

This is a brilliant guitar with a lovely sound but I’m super excited to play but I’ve had to re-order it because it was damaged when it came, really annoying as I ordered it for myself for my birthday and really wanted to play it on the day but I’m having to repackage it and send it back because it was damaged .

Very good guitar

Sorprendente esta Telecaster Debut de Squier. Es muy bonita con este color Verde Espuma brillante y llamativo. Es muy ligera en comparación con otras Telecasters, tiene un brazo delgado y suave al tacto y un diapasón que se siente muy rápido con unos trastes bien pulidos. Los bordes de los trastes están un poco salidos pero esto es normal por los cambios de temperatura y se corrige fácilmente. El sonido también es bueno, con una cualidad metálica y algo abrasiva en la pastilla del puente y el balance con la pastilla del brazo, más grave y profunda. Timbres clásicos de una verdadera Telecaster.
