Good starting material of theory
This was an insightful for those that are not well versed in the world of analytics OR believe that data teams should be driving business solutions. The book Introduces the premise that well formed questions and clear direction should drive analytics which is important and it's something as a data consultant I have practiced parts of for years.I gave this 4 star because I felt like it could have delved deeper on how to do what is proposed. How to arrive at the decision and key questions. It's touched on, but I left wanting more.I loved the last formula for determining what should be done. Scoring rubrics are critical to getting the right work done.I will recommend this to many!

It's not the analytics is the decisions you make
Data these days is cheap and abundant. Coding is not a bottleneck skill anymore. What is critical is asking the right questions from the data to make the best decisions. That's the purpose of this book and the authors know their stuff. Also: blessfully brief! Where other books add meaningless chapters and pointless anecdotes, this is worth your time.

Lectura obligada.

"Decision-Driven Analytics" by Bart De Langhe and Stefano Puntoni
"Decision-Driven Analytics" by Bart De Langhe and Stefano Puntoni challenges the prevailing narrative that data alone drives effective decision-making in businesses. The authors emphasize the importance of human judgment alongside data analytics and advocate for a more nuanced approach to leveraging information in the corporate world. They address the disconnect between data systems and decision-making processes in organizations, arguing that while data is crucial, the ultimate responsibility of making strategic decisions rests with human leaders who can critically interpret and apply this data. The book critiques the over-reliance on automated systems and advocates for a more thoughtful integration where AI serves as a tool to enhance human expertise rather than replace it.De Langhe and Puntoni introduce a new approach called decision-driven analytics, emphasizing the need to focus on human judgment rather than prioritizing data. They caution against common mistakes such as answering the wrong questions due to a poor connection between analytics and business needs, and the uncritical acceptance of data insights. The book is rich with insights into the pitfalls of prioritizing data over decision-making and provides a valuable framework for navigating the complexities of a data-rich world. The authors also offer an engaging perspective on the future role of AI in decision-making, envisioning a collaborative future where AI and human expertise complement each other rather than compete. While the book provides valuable insights, it falls short in offering concrete examples and may seem to skim over the complexities involved in data analytics and AI, leaving a desire for deeper exploration. However, its core message, emphasizing the irreplaceable value of human judgment in making impactful decisions, makes it an essential read for business leaders, data scientists, and anyone interested in the evolving landscape of data analytics.
