just back from a fabulous holiday in Sri Lanka and the book was a great help. Navigated our way to some beautiful places and gorgeous dinners.

Then was no map of the whole of Sri Lanka. Trying to see distances and locations when the regional maps were pages apart was difficult. But it is still a nice informative book.

We used this guidebook for a 10 day holiday to Sri Lanka in January 2025. It did not disappoint. Useful for pre-departure planning and as a guide when you are in the country. Really up to date and full of helpful information. A great book for those fortunate enough to visit this amazing island.

Helpful, informative, well-structured while still a convenient size

I can see this definitely being a useful aide for anyone interested in traveling to the country.There’s various tips that I’ve never come across before and I found the information organized well.

I have numerous other lonely planet books and they are my first port of call when trip planning. I waited for this to be released so I had the most up to date copy. I am really disappointed by this publication it lacks the details you would expect and find in most lonely planet publications. There are no complete route intenaries, only individual regions which don't link into each other. There is no transport information for traveling within and through different regions. It overall lacks a completeness that you find in other lonley planet travel guides. It feels as though it was written by a group of people that know the country well and haven't taken into consideration that those reading this guid have little to no knowledge of the country.

I used to consider Lonely Planet the bible of travel guides but they seem to have fallen behind in recent years. I think they have become a lazy in their recommendations. I would use this one more for factual information than itinerary planning or choices of accommodation and food. But even the factual information isn't that well set out. I haven't seen the DK one yet but based on other experiences I will probably get that one before I travel.
