Randall And Hopkirk (Deceased): The Complete Second Series

After a sublime series 1, great things were expected from series 2 but boy was it not what was wanted. Naff scripts, gloriously overboard acting from guest stars who appeared to think they were auditioning for 'Shooting Stars', this killed off the show completely and placed it in the 'Showgirls' category of must see mayhem. I bought it for that and to complete the set of this 00's reboot of a much loved 60's series and 5 stars for the chutzpah of Vic and Bob releasing this series and not cringing in the interviews about it at the time!

i found it good simple fun, i have watched the original series, and glad to say it was not just a carbon copy

You already know the expression that something is like Marmite - you either love it or hate it. I love Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer and they proved to be a revelation during Season One of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased). Season Two of Randall & Hopkirk proved to have slicker scripts but the novelty of the ghost partner was diluted by the number of other ghosts that appear - in fact I think only one or two stories out of the entire season didn't have another character who either died and became a ghost or turned out to be a ghost the whole time. That said, Randall & Hopkirk is a brilliant way and not very taxing way to kill off a few hours. Good detective stories, peppered with nice quips and humour. I loved it.

We thought the first series was excellent (5 Stars) and were looking forward to the same strong storylines with edition 2Although certainly passable, this series was a little disappointing.Its as though the creater Charlie Higson was slowly running out of ideas.Great if your not expecting too much.

I chose this rating because I like these particular series. I actually bought the first one thinking it was the original one that was done in the 60s.
