Whiteside Router Bits 1083A Straight Bit with 23/32-Inch Cutting Diameter and 1-Inch Cutting Length

I used a cheap set of the plywood cutting bits and got very fuzzy edges and an undersized dado slot for cabinet grade "3/4" plywood. I bought the whiteside 23/32 bit and the cuts in the same plywood are super crisp and exactly the same size as the plywood. Mating parts fit tight but do fit in the dados cut with the whiteside bit. I will never buy the cheap bits again. Always go with quality tools if you want quality woodworking with clean crisp cuts.

Great price performance. Used this to cut grooves to receive cedar panels with a thickness of 0.69 inches (11/16). The 23/32 bit provides a nice, easy fit that is structurally sound while still allowing for some expansion in the panels when it rains . . . and after completing 7 panels I am still impressed at how cleanly the bit is cutting. Not a size that I expect to use often, so am grateful to be able to get this job at this price point.

Excellent bit for cutting dados for 3/4" maple and birch plywood. The bit cuts smoothly and uniformly, and I seldom have any issues with the veneer tearing or plywood blowing out. When I do have those rare issues, it's because of a blemish in the plywood stock and not the router bit. The bit also leaves the edge smooth with little if any need to hit it with fine sandpaper to remove any lifted grain. The joint is extremely tight (at least with the plywood stock I'm using) and makes for a solid and attractive joint.

From what is considered by many woodworkers to be the best bit manufacturer on the market, bar none, and made in the USA. This bit is at a price the same as or lower than some Chinese bits, there is nothing left to say. There are some bits in your stock you need to be best quality you can afford, and a (23/32)'3/4' plywood dado bit is one that will see a great deal of use over the years. No jig is needed with this bit just a single pass with the router and it's done, the plywood fits snugly and is ready for glue. This is the best there is for only a couple of dollars more than the Chinese competition. We can make it in this country and compete with anyone in the world and Whiteside Machine Company is proving it!!!!

Purchased this because I didn't want to buy a dado stack for 3/4" plywood dadoes. It does the trick and seemed to match most box-store plywood for fitment. Smooth cut, and will look at their bits when I need a good one in the future. However, I bit the bullet on a dado stack two months later on a great deal, and for through dadoes there really isn't anything better. I still keep this bit around for stop dadoes in 3/4 stock, but I have yet to require that in my hobby work.

Working on a project using nominal 3/4" plywood which is really less than that. This bit routed a perfect slot for a good dado joint.
