Heard reviews of having to fit them... Starting doing that then thought of just heating them up with a heat gun... Worked perfect... Once they cool, your not getting them out....

Picked up this item as an alternative to the Spal mounting brackets which were priced considerably higher than these. The mounting brackets came packaged with 6 brackets in 2 separate baggies in a small envelope. Upon opening them, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the mounting brackets were made from the same material as the Spal fan; some kind of reinforced plastic material. Given the price, I must admit that I was half-expecting some kind of cheap-feeling brittle plastic that would likely not last long in the engine bay. Second impression of the mounting brackets is that they came with a great deal of plastic flash from the molding process. Almost as if zero effort was put into cleaning flash from the brackets once molded. The pictures on the item page don't lie. You can actually see some of the plastic flash on the images.. It's also there on each and every bracket you will receive! Next thing to do was to install the brackets into my Spal fan, and after struggling for a few minutes to press them into the mounting locations on the fan, I realized that they would not fit the fan out of the box... not without breaking either the bracket or the fan due to the amount of force required to press them into the mounting location! Problem is that there is so much plastic flash and other minor molding defects that prevent the brackets from easily installing into the Spal fan. After spending some time with my utility knife carefully carving off excess plastic flash and using my rotary tool to do some minor massaging of certain edges, things started looking up, and I could now install the brackets in place. All in all, I think the price of these undercuts Spal's price on Amazon for similar units, and the reason is that they aren't 100% ready to install out of the box. If you are even the least bit mechanically inclined, and spend the time cleaning them up, they work just fine. I would give this product 4 stars out of 5. The price is right for what you are getting, but is only worth it if you are patient enough to thoroughly massage them out of the box. With that said, I would recommend them. The impression I get is that they are "modelled" almost exactly upon the Spal 30130017, made from similar material, but require a bit of finishing prior to use. Given the price delta between this set of 8 brackets and the price for 8 individual Spal 30130017 brackets, the extra work wasn't a big deal imo.
