@Joshua A Stedman, I am not sure about the assertion is entirely correct when you say that "It is the only one you'll ever find for $50...". Veritas sells their router plane for $55 normally. while you suggest it's basically a 1/4 metal lathe cutter, it clearly has some additional work required to accommodate the depth. the accuracy of milling a HSS cutter so that it fits is out of the grasp of many home woodworkers. i'm sure this is a fine router, but you are a bit dismissive of a legitimate point made by OP, for many home woodworkers, this would be a disposable tool if there are not easily accessible replacement bits.
