Keep the postman happy with a chunky coir doormat
This is a fab, chunky coir doormat. It arrived rolled up so it took a couple of days to settle into expected shape, and when it did I was very happy. There's nothing 'fancy' about this mat - we're missing design or pattern, colour etc - but it doesn't matter this is a classic and simple thick pile doormat that that is specially twisted to avoid shedding. It also has a non-slip rubberised layer on the bottom. At 40 x 60 it won't it the whole width of.a standard UK door - but then neither did the one before it. Top marks.

Good for cleaning messy shoes before entering the house
I wanted this for using outside the front door, for cleaning muddy shoes before stepping in the house. I’ve used a rubber outdoor mat up to now, but it isn’t very effective at getting mud out of the shoe treads and only scrapes off surface mud. This coir door mat does a much better job, as the bristles can get into the treads. They brush out a lot of the dirt and mud before I step in, then I can finish wiping my shoes on the indoor mat.It has a rubber backing which is very effective at stopping it from slipping around if used indoors. I had it indoors on a wooden floor for a few hours before putting it outside, and it was shedding fibres, so I wouldn’t like to keep it in the house. According to the information that arrives with it, it has mechanically twisted coir for less shedding. However, even that doesn’t stop it completely. It’s great for using outside my front door, especially as it’s under a porch which should stop it getting too saturated in the rain. I also like the fact that it’s 100% biodegradable, as apparently the coir will disintegrate within one year, and the latex backing will disintegrate within five years.

Door mat
This mat is good only thing I would say it tends to do is the mats bristle comes on you shoes when you wipe your shoes which comes on your clean floor

Nice thick doormat
This arrived rolled up but when I unwrapped it, it sat flat on the floor immediately so I put it down inside the back door at once. It replaced one that had started to look a bit the worse for wear and is doing its job. It's quite thick and the coir is apparently mechanically twisted, which is meant to reduce shedding and is so far working but it's early days so I can't really comment on the shedding issue long term.It removes dirt quite well and brushes off easily, and the rubber backing stops it slipping which is a bonus.

No frills mat
40x60 mat a little too small in width for a standard door. Arrived rolled up but flattened straight away. Deep pile with rubber backing ideal for catching dirt. I got this for my back door and it works alot better than my old thinner, fancier, rubber surround one, although not as visually appealing. Typically there is alot of shedding. I wouldn't use this at the front of the house but great for the back.

Thick/long pile to trap dirt
A really good depth - nice and thick to trap dirt, and the base seems robust so it should last well. The coir did 'moult' everywhere when we unwrapped it, but after a good shake out it doesn't seem to be losing anymore. It appears to be easy to clean so far - we've just let mud dry and then given it a bash out. Nice to have a natural product that also looks good.
