best flavor for malted milk powder, chocolate is great too

Inexplicably, some people don't like malted milks. I'm not sure why. I assume you do or you wouldn't be shopping malt powder, so I'm going to make your life better. About 40 years ago, sitting around in my parent's restaurant, I wanted to make a malt. We had the powder, we had the ice cream, we had the chocolate sauce but they usually turned out . . . thin. Just OK. One day, and I'm not sure why, but we tried something different. We put the milk in the blender, then (and here's the secret:) before anything else, we dropped in a huge spoonful of marshmallow creme, then blended that in. Then the chocolate syrup, the malt powder, and the good vanilla ice cream. We poured it out, took a sip, and were amazed. It was a revelation. Thick, sweet, and exactly as satisfying as you were hoping for. The marshmallow creme was the secret. And if you don't tell people, they can't guess what you put in there that makes it so good. It's amazing. I know you're here shopping for malt powder not marshmallow creme, but you can get that anywhere but malt powder has been disappearing from grocery stores everywhere. I can't find it anywhere here in town, that's why I buy it from Amazon. Anyway, do yourself a favor and fire up the blender. Milk, marshmallow creme, chocolate syrup, malt powder, and then vanilla ice cream until the blender chokes. You're welcome.

Just add milk and you have a nice malted mile drink, and of course, ice cream can be added. Carnation seems to be the only brand carried by grocery stores. Horlicks, formally of Racine, WI. and now made in England may account as to why their brand is not readily available anymore, unless purchased on Amazon. Carnation is a great product and a very fair price.

If you're into malted milk this is the real stuff!

It is a great product and tastes fantastic. As long as the water is warm it dissolves well. I like to put in a small amount of half&half which really makes it smooth and delicious.But... I had a problem. Forgot that I was allergic to barley and that this is based on malted barley. Oh-oh! Had to donate the extra unopened canisters. If you are a gluten-free person, it may be a similar biological effect, so order just one on your first purchase just to make sure before you too are giving it away.

What isn't to like about this stuff??? It's great!I remember being taken to the local Dairy Queen when I was a kid, and my Dad always ordered a large strawberry malt. I remember the first time I ever tasted one, and it was like nothing else I'd ever had!The local Kroger used to carry this, but like so many other products, they discontinued it suddenly, and won't even order it for me if I offer to buy the entire case! Likewise with Walmart.Adding this powdered malt to even a glass of milk turns it into a taste treat you won't soon forget. And you can't make a milkshake without this stuff. It always bring me back to all those years ago as a kid. And after suffering a debilitating health problem, I dropped 40 pounds in three weeks. My doctor tells me this stuff is medicine for me, because I can use every last calorie I can get. It may not be the thing for anyone watching their weight, but "all things in moderation," adding this product to milk or ice cream is like a little bit of heaven.I'm ordering more as soon as I finish this review!
