Good quality book for university art course.

I have found this most helpful for getting correct proportions when copying photos. I don't think it would work with life portraiture. However, it has made me more observant, so I am hoping to do life portraits in the future.

I love Civardi's work and I have a few of his books so I bought this to join the crowd. However, two points:1. The grid system is dead easy and you don't need a book this big on it. Just about every artist knows how to use it so a book one tenth the size of this would have done. The number of examples is excessive and it looks like they've been put in to pad the book out.2. I have no interest in drawing children. I love life drawing and portrait drawing (adults only) so when I realised that pages 82 to 159 were all about babies and toddlers I was a little disappointed.Some of the other tips are fine but actually don't relate to using a grid. I recommend Civardi's books on drawing the human figure but not this one.

Used book, a little crumpled from age and use.The content is well laid out and followable.Alas not even this book could make me a better portraitist, think I'll have to stick to landscapes

This is substantial plastic grid, I use it as a template for grid drawing, it’s perfect

Great instructional resource. Easy to follow.

Just learning to draw. You need a Master’s Degree to understand the language used in this book. It is not written for most education levels. The pictures/portraits inside will be good to use as inspiration but it needs to be a bit more basic with the verbage and instructions.
