Flexible installation options, quality piece
This is a sturdy, well-built cover that comes with several inserts to accommodate different receptacle types. Mine are rectangular Decora GFCI outlets and simply popping out the "two hole" plastic insert sets it up for Decora. I found it easiest to use the "inside" screws that also affix the receptacle to the electrical box. The easiest way to do this is to shove the screws through the gasket (which has little pop-out holes for this) and thread them part-way in, leaving enough extended screw length to put the cover on via its slotted holes. The screws can then be tightened to secure the outlet and cover, and I had no problem using an electric screwdriver to do so. (See photo.) My only gripe is that the gasket that comes with this white outlet cover is black, leaving a black "ring around the fixture" visually.

Very Pleased
I don't often write reviews. I'm very pleased with this product. The quality is good and the design is well thought out and functional. I haven't gone all night with it yet but it seems to get warm enough to do some good. If you're sitting it's easy to unplug it at the knee and go do what you need to do. When you get back in you just plug it back in right at your knee and the control is still on set to the right settings.

Great cover, easy to install
Great cover, easy to install. The only reason I removed a star is because the spring is very stiff. Its almost hard to hold the cover up while plugging in an item.

This is an excellent product. I'm using it to "cover" an interior on-off switch that activates a normal 110v electrical outlet/receptacle. [switched receptacles were common in 1960s-era CA tract homes; much less common nowadays] Anyway, this switch is in my office, and sometimes visitors will "switch" it "off," thinking that it controls a desk lamp; however, it really powers my router, printer, phone chargers, etc., that I want "on" all the time. The "cover" is cast metal, and consists of a "frame" and a spring-closed-hinged "cover". My item was white, and had "Bell" embossed in raised letters on the cover [this was not shown on the picture]. The name doesn't bother me. On the frame are embossed the "UL" listing stamp, and some other building-code info. This is normal [perhaps required?] as this product can be used outdoors. There are foam/rubber gaskets for the frame/cover to protect against moisture or dampness. As you get the product, it is setup for a "GFI"-type receptacle, however, there are templates included for a regular duplex electrical outlets, an on-off switch [which is the one I used], and some sort of "round" base switch or outlet. To use it with an on-off switch, you need to remove the cutout portion of the foam in raised cover bump-out [this is obvious]. There are various switch protectors and covers [and also "lock-out" covers, which have special warning labels]. This cover is well made [cast metal], attractive, not too obvious, and usable indoors or outdoors. It can be locked or zip-tied/"tagged" closed, but I'm not using this feature. It is the cheapest of the switch covers available on Amazon. It is very versatile, and highly recommended.

Good Protection
Purchased this to protect an outlet in an outdoor kitchen that was too close to the grill and beginning to take some heat/smoke damage. So very important to be metal and not plastic. This works, and wasn't too hard to install. Just remove/dispose of the standard outlet cover plate, loosen the screws that hold the outlet in the box, and then you can slide this on. Tighten the screws and you should be good to go. This was not a GFCI outlet, this cover would not work for that.

Headline
I wanted to pass along a couple of things. This cover is well made as far as sturdiness. The short comings are the top screw that holds it on can be accessed when the cover is closed which means you can half remove the cover. DUH! Second, the holes for the padlock are blocked by the rounded bottom of the cover so that you can only use the tiniest of padlocks in it. I used my Dremel to grind away some metal so that I could use a full hole diameter padlock. Poorly thought out by the designer. Don't worry about form, worry about function.

Pros -Good quality cover -Easy to install -seems to fit fine enough even on an uneven panel surface. Cons -I had to use my old screws and my old screws didn't fit into the bottom screw hole, only the top one. -door automatically springs closed when opened (this could be a good or bad thing depending on your preference) -door opens a little less than 90 degrees instead of close to completely. Overall it doesn't seem to be the best in terms of functionality, but the aluminum cover is nice, looks clean, and does the job if you simply want to cover the outlet. Recommend 👍

Based on a review saying they’d used this to cover a light switch we took a chance it would work for that purpose. It’s too bad the product description isn’t clearer, as this comes with a plate for an older style outlet, the removal of that plate allows it to fit on a new style outlet, or a rocker light switch, and there’s another plate to put in place for a toggle light switch. We are using it indoors to keep a toddler away from a light switch they oughtent touch. It came with a sturdy foam piece to mount behind/seal it if it were outdoors and the flap also has a foam/rubber seal. It is quite easy to see that outdoors it would be quite waterproof. It was less than 5 minutes to install. We placed it upside down for our indoor toddler-proofing purposes. I would definitely use this outdoors. The best part is similar items marketed as a “toddler proof” light switch covers are two to three times the price. For ten dollars, we are very pleased!

Out house was about 18 years old and the original gfi outdoor casings were brittle and not safe. Bought two of these and for the price you can't go wrong. Feels like a strong die cast casing, comes with new insulation and fit perfectly. As a bonus it is even lockable if you have a small padlock.
