Finally Learn to Gorgeous Braids
My sixteen year old daughter got this for her birthday. She says the book is well laid out and the directions are clear and easy to follow. She has learned a shocking number of beautiful braids and her sisters are loving it.

This is the book to have
What I like most about this book is it gives you an intro on doing the basic braids and then you have page after page of ways to apply and combine those with styling techniques that are very creative. Flipping through I felt I was inspired to try the majority of them. I bought another braiding book at the same time and returned it because most of the styles I had seen before. This is the one I kept. Oh and it has photo step by steps not just sketches or words.

Different from other books
I have lots of braiding books - many of these have quite similar hairstyles, but this book is different. It offers a lot of looks which you don't see in all the other books and not on YouTube. And some are quite fancy and edgy. I

Just don’t bother.
Most of the hairstyles are a little bit too avant guard and unwearable (some are even kind of ugly!). But this is subjective. What I think is ugly, someone else might really like! Each to her own. The real problem with this book is that for most of the hairstyles, the instructions are unclear or incomplete. The instructions for the basketweave braid, for instance, doesn’t clearly tell you how to section the hair, or where and how to start weaving the braid. The pictures aren’t really helpful.I also don’t like that many of the styles call for you to tease your hair or prep it with salt spray or a crimping iron prior to braiding. For someone like me, who treats her hair gently, i just can’t fathom destroying my hair like this! The only good thing about the book is the way it is styled. The hairstyles are shown on models who are wearing outfits that perfectly suit each hairstyle. For this reason, the book is useful to me for style inspo but not for anything else.If you have some braiding or hairstyling experience, you will probably get some degree of use from this book.If you’re new to braiding and hairstyling, I would NOT recommend you start with this book!In either case, far better looking braided hairstyles with foolproof instructions can be found on YouTube and perhaps in books other than this one.
