Anoter FIne Guide by Laura Erickson
Laura has once again produced a winner in her bird watching series! Some of the information is very basic, but much of the book answers questions about birding and birdwatching. If you're interested in birds - backyard or wild land birds - this is a great book. I'd highly recommend it as a gift for your favorite bird watcher ! Pocket sized, too.

important information about how to be of benefit to birds!
This is a lovely book, filled with very interesting information. I knew I wanted to offer food to the birds, but felt concerned about negative comments I had heard about this practice. This book resolves all of these issues for me. And it provides information about how to feed the birds without harming them: keeping the seed clean and disease free, for example. A lot of things I did not know about. In addition, there's a lot of information that makes me appreciate birds even more. Intriguing info about mating, caring for their young, migrating, intelligence, how they sing, feathers and how they fly...On a more mundane level, this is a lovely looking book. It's small (about 6" by 4.5")yet satisfyingly hefty (about 1" thick.) It's attractively bound, with a shiny cover and a textured, matte spine. It's a great little book in so many ways. Well done! The Bird Watching Answer Book: Everything You Need to Know to Enjoy Birds in Your Backyard and Beyond (Cornell Lab of Ornithology)

Quite Useful Reference
Not sure why it is not a 5 but I have some reservations (minor) about the format. I guess it is because I have a certain way to inquire about information and the internet or Echo or Seri was more useful. It could; however, be I just ask crappy question about my birds and how to deal with some of their idiosyncrasies. I do feel it is useful and I would buy it again without hesitation. Sending a copy to my granddaughter as she joins us in "birding."

EGG-Cellent!!!!
This little book sure packs a punch! It is small when you first see it, but open it up, and it is just chock-full of advice pertaining to our sweet little feathered friends. Wow! I was impressed! You will feel like you have come away from this book knowing quite a bit more than you did before you dug into it! I have been into birding for quite awhile now, yet,I was surprised to learn things that I never even knew before! It is a nice addition to your "birding library"....so glad I got it! Plus....you can assist friends and neighbors, when they are confounded about a birding "issue"!

Very basic
The book is nicely organized, and set up nicely for an easy reference. It is however very basic, and seems designed for the very beginner in bird watching. If that is what you are looking for this is a good book. If however you are looking for something a bit more insightful, look elsewhere.

A very good general knowledge book
I very much liked this book. As my review title says, it's a general knowledge book aimed at (I believe) beginning to intermediate level birders. It starts out with a chapter on how to feed them (for beginners) and ends with chapters on their physiology (for intermediate birders). Very easy reading and very clear.I strongly recommend the book.

A Nice Book To Own Along With The Field Guides
Though it contains no photos, the text is quite compelling, and does answer many questions that a new "birder" might have about the subject. And like the field guides, it fits easily in a back pack, and would probably come in handy if you are fidgety and need something to do while waiting for a bunting to stop by.
