Now my dogs don't slip down the stairs
I just finished installing the self stick carpet treads to my stairs. They were fairly easy to install however – the film on the back that you peel off is very thin and tears easily making it difficult to get it all off the carpet tread. That being said I persevered and finished the job and they look nice. All in all I’m happy with how this diy job turned out.

Pretty but narrow!
Nice quality for the money, but very narrow. Wish the stair pads were another inch or two wider.

Cute Mini Rugs
We picked these up for our garage stairs that lead to the basement. The stairs are concrete with epoxy on them, so we wanted to protect the epoxy better and add more traction. We have been looking for a set of stair runners for quite awhile, and I am happy we got these. They feel well made, don't have imperfections, and aren't overly sticky. I was concerned about something like this being too sticky and not being able to peel these up later on. I was also concerned that the adhesive would take the epoxy coating with it. These are not that sticky at all. They aren't really even sticky enough to hold the creases in the runners down. The backing on these comes covered in plastic to protect it, but the stickiness is more like rubber. It isn't so much of an adhesive as it is a non slip rubber like coating. On a perfectly flat surface like wood, these would probably have a bit more stick to them. You shouldn't worry about damaging the finish, however. These simply aren't that kind of adhesive.Overall I really like theses. They are attractive, decently thick, and they don't slip around. If these wear out I would absolutely purchase replacements. The 15 pack is exactly the number we need for various steps/stairs in the garage to boot. If anything goes wrong, I will update this review.

MADE SUCH A DIFFERENCE!!!!!
I live in a condo that was built in 2005. Our storage is located in the basement. The stairs have the same carpet pads since the building was built. Normally maintenance takes care of these things but they've been cutting corners lately - so I decided to order them.I was lucky enough getting the pads from the Amazon Vine reviewer program. The pads were extremely easy to apply. The hardest part was removing the old carpet pads. Once removed, I did some light sanding remove glue and debris > thorough cleaning with lint-free rag with Dawn & water. Once cleaned, I went over the steps with a handheld vacuum. The pads are 'peel & stick' but I wasn't sure if I should've added extra adhesive to ensure they stay in place. On two of the steps, I applied the pads with no additional adhesive.I, then tried a few steps with Gorilla glue clear 'bond virtually everything' (the one that activates with water) > then I tried a couple steps with 3M adhesive spray. It's only been a few weeks since I applied the pads to the top half of the stairs. I want to wait a few more weeks to finish the bottom half to see how the other steps and adhesive methods hold up.So far they're holding up so good — even the couple of steps with just the pads peel & stick backing.I can't stress enough that prep work is everything! Take the extra time so you don't have to waste more time redoing them down the road or even a slip & fall if the pads become loose. If you currently have stair pads that need updating- you will LOVE these! I can't get over what a difference new stair pads make!If you currently don't have any stair rug pads — you will LOVE these as well!!The pads are a perfect size!Rug pads are decent quality!GOOD VALUE

Good look - poor adhesive
I recently stripped the 40+ year old carpet off the steps going into my basement. Wooden steps would be fine for me, but I noticed that Monty, my older little miniature Dachshund, was having trouble and would occasionally slip. So, I got these to cover the wooden steps until I get around to refinishing the wood. The Good: These are very nice looking and a good quality carpet. They feel comfortable as you climb steps and muffle your climbing sound. They have a durable sewed edge that seems like it will really hold up. the carpet itself seems almost like a good commercial quality. Impressive! The Not-So-Good: They come rolled up in two packages, so the inner ones initially have waves in them even after you stomp them down. There is a thin plastic wrap-like backing that you need to peel off from the center outward. Some of that plastic backing has been sewn into the edges of the carpet edging. When you try to pull the backing off, it may rip. It is very hard to see so you will need to use your fingers to feel around for remnants of the plastic backing. The Possibly Bad: When installing these the back did not feel overly sticky. I could easily touch the back and my fingers would not feel very attached. My steps were clean but are not finished wood. So, I'm a bit concerned about how well these carpet runners will adhere to my steps. Will they adhere better after pressure and time, or will they begin to move? How well would they stay in place with a wet-dry vacuum running over the steps? I don't know yet. If they do move I plan on using my furniture stapler to secure them. But I hope it doesn't come to that. For now I am pleased with how they look and feel. Oh, and Monty is delighted as he can climb the stairs again with ease.Update: Within 2 days my medium size dog was able to remove several of these carpet strips with ease. As I had suspected, the adhesive is weak making it easy for these to be pulled up. Fortunately, I had some spray adhesive that I applied to the backs of several of these and they now seem to stick better. If that doesn't work, the next step will be to staple them down.

Comfortable to walk on, nice pattern
These stair treads look great. I like the plushness of them. They feel great when I walk up and down the stairs. They are easy to work with and install. The adhesive backing can be a challenge to remove in one piece. The process is a bit tedious but worth it. There was one misprint out of the package but there were a few extra so we didn’t have to use the misprint.
