Great Diagnostic tool!
I like this scanner because the yearly update is very affordable, but it does take a minute to get into modules on vehicles. But it is a great everyday diagnostic tool!

Works Great / Lots to learn
I'm a DIYer who has been working on cars for 15 years, and it was time to up my game to one of these. If you watch lots of videos of real mechanics using these, you can learn its capabilities. I've been able to use this to diagnose leaking injectors, a dirty mass air flow sensor, and a bad O2 sensor. It has also kept me from going down the wrong path a few times. Updates are frequent and easy. The range on the bluetooth is really good, as is the wifi.

OUTSTANDING!!!
I am no longer lost, I can fine almost any problem. BUY IT! UPDATE: I was not able to write a complete review the first time around, traveling. I must add that when I received my scanner I had 4 family vehicles with issues' and I had no way to diagnose. Within 3 days all vehicles repaired I didn't have take them to the shop. I just scanned found the issues either reset things or replace the failed part. Without this unit I would of paid 5 times as much to correct. It has already paid for itself. Easy to use!! I couldn't be happier. I also had to purchase their BT506, I haven't received that yet. BUY IT!!!

Easy to operate!
Got the chance to use the MK808Z-BT scanner today on my '09 Scion XB. Love the VCI BlueTooth attachment, love not being attached to the device with a cord (although the capability is still possible with the included USB cord), allowing more freedom of movement around the vehicle. Navigation throughout the various menu options was quick, and the information displayed was easy to understand in plain English. Although the MK808Z-BT doesn't have TPMS capabilities, I do have the Autel TS601 to perform that function if needed. There's still a lot more data to update for my device (41 items), which I'm planning to do at a later date. For now, I've just updated those that I needed for my personal vehicles to get me started. The speed of the device is truly fast, and it doesn't lag between menu choices since it has the latest software and hardware already installed. Kind of wished the free updates were two years instead of one, don't know how long I'll be updating the software since it'll run me $150 for yearly updates. All in all, the Autel MaxiCOM MK808Z-BT was worth every penny I've spent for it, so far... am not disappointed with the product.

Requires internet service to activate then can’t update with software.
I ordered the item on Thursday and got it Friday afternoon, real quick delivery. Thank you Amazon for this. Saturday morning charged it up from 60% to 100% in less than an hour half. Powered it on, up came Autel intro screen, time and date like an android tablet, and then an menu (language settings) pops up which were numerous. English selected. The screen then goes to the autel dashboard and a menu pops up indicating need to connect to the internet. At this time I did not to connect to the internet or make a autel profile yet as I wanted to confirm this would work for all my vehicles I own first. Then as I continued on without internet, all functionality failed including demo as all the numerous vehicles/demo shown had to be downloaded and installed and including the various tests and bi directional capabilities, which appears the system requires internet connection. Then as I proceeded without internet there was a countdown to 10 being offline. I used 1 of them still did not get very far using it nothing was downloaded. So now being it would be used at home and potentially on the road collecting live data it was set to use the phones hotspot. Now the unit was connected to the internet. After connection then it goes to the user profile and a menu to update there is no going back until you update or power off and power back on. So first time tried update, the system goes through the update then stops indicating the user interface is not allowed to be used on this system or not authorized software. Ok then you can alter the permission to authorize to use an unauthorized software but why would I do that? It’s coming from the company? I stayed away from updating but to no avail the unit would always go back to update. I spent several hours viewing the system and found in the application written title in Chinese an input PAD driver. I thought it was supposed to be in English? As I spent several hours on the net I came across information on updating this system after the1 year period it would cost $495 to update yearly.. Now comes the concern as mentioned above, internet accessibility is this going to be required, a yearly fee and potential nature this unit may fail and could become just an android tablet to bring in other vehicles after the 1 year mark or worst if the user does a factory reset then the system becomes an true regular android tablet. This is what I went through and a YouTuber ran into same thing (lack of internet connectivity) but brushed it off still raving about the unit. I will be honest the hardware is nice and fast, the design of the case and layout is great. My only concern was software after 1 year for other vehicles, will I be able to download the needed files and all the tests and sub programs for the vehicles or pay $495 a year. Also, what if I do a factory reset to clean up old files, do I have the ability to go and acquire my files from the download or through the profile on the vehicles I use regularly on?. Those who are interested in buying this unit should consider the one with tpms capability the price point sounds great and autel program for this sub section appears to be very robust. This is my current review and I will see if someone could chime in to address some of the above items.

Great valueI
So far I have had no issues with this scanner, used mostly on Toyota And Lexus vehicles. So far have not found anything that our Techstream OEM scanner will do that can not be done with the MaxiCOM MK808Z-BT except for the firmware updates that need Toyota access. I have not had much experience on other makes of cars. Updates are available often and the first year they are free.

This is a great scanner. Has a wide range of compatibility. Looked at several brands but Autel is the clear winner. Great hardware, easy to use software.

Ok, you’re a cheap DIYer and think your 30 buck dongle is good enough to clear codes… it’s not, not if you’re serious about fixing issues anyways. I’ve read all the modules on my 14 ram. I was able to isolate issues and correct the following broken things that weren’t even that big of a deal to me: ABS light (speed sensor bad) Engine light (3 way coolant valve, short to ground) Trailer brake module (bad sensor) The amount of live data available lets you sit there and think, then figure out the necessary steps to fix your car. I wish I would have bought this device or something like it 10 years ago. It would have saved me so much heartache. I have told all that can hear my voice that this is my favorite purchase ever. Not lying and not regretting the price Thank you Autel.

I bought this back in 2023 it was the best sub 1000$ scanner that has live data and 2 way component testing capabilities. For the price the Bt dongle was really good. I was able to scan all makes and models and reset pretty much all maintenance and service intervals. The codes were actuate and the live data was very very useful. But now for the price of around 500$ you can get a otofix scanner that does basically everything this one does. I can no longer recommend this scanner just cause the price is very high compared to the otofix d1 and that scanner is also made by autel.

Ordered with prime next day delivery, received the product within one week. The unit was faulty and did not work (solid red error light). I contacted their support and listed the issues I noticed, to which they flat out refused to answer more than a single question per email, per day. I also mentioned to them that I noticed that less than 12 hours after they had my email, it was already sold and on a spam list. A clean email that gets no spam, suddenly has just under 100 spam emails in 2 days. After repeated back and forth like this, they eventually referred me to start all over and explain to their phone service, the issues I'm having (after stating that they would need my full name, phone number, etc....to sell as well?). All in all, it seemed like they were just trying to run out the return clock right off the bat. Sketchy as hell. Oh I almost forgot, their software, it came with a few other chinese software bundled with it, including a lovely trojan virus, and not a simple false-negative one. Anyway, I returned and bought an XTOOL instead that worked out of the box.
