This was a great kit to help teach teens how to tuft. If you are trying this for the first time make sure to also order something for the backing. I ended up using hot glue and some felt.

The tool is much better than one that came in a the project kit, but the hoop is just an embroidery hoop so isn’t going to hold rug punching. The tool works great tho.

I think this is perfect if youre looking for a beginners kit. This kit comes with a punch needle, with different sized needles which is important. And embroidery needles, scissors and fabric with the small punching frame.This is a very good mix of items to test the water; project/carpet punching, and see if this is something you are interested in engaging in. If you enjoy the process and results, you will purchase more, if not, you won’t.

I liked that it came with the different sizes, but the smallest one (2.5) didn't come with the piece to secure it on the wooden handle. This was the size that I needed for my current project. I also wish it came with something that explained what all the pieces included were called and better directions for switching our the needle heads.

UPDATE: Customer service was super helpful and refunded me the amount to make up for the punch size I couldn't use, it was enough to cover buying a single pumch needle in the size. Very nice of them since i really didnt want another set and have repeats I dont need.My set came without the piece that allows the middle size to be secured in. Coincidentally thats the size I wanted to use. Yay... I havent used anything else, The handle is a touch rough and snaggy but some cheap fine sandpaper can fix that easily enough.

Nice kit with everything you need to start punch needle work

It has interchangeable needles. The piece that goes in the wooden base does not fit, so it can not close well and the needle goes loose, it goes so loose that does not allow the needle to even pass through the fabric.I do not recommend this kit at all. It is the worst investment I have ever made.

Not a great punch. I had to file and sand the edges to get a smooth needle edge that didn't catch on the cloth. The plastic punch nuts did not hold the needle so that each time I punched through the cloth, the needle slid down into the plastic holder. Also the threading wire broke after only a few uses.
