Q: How long are the bristles? My cat has short fur so I need short bristles to work best.

The bristles are about 1/2 inch long (I just measured for you) but they are slanted on the brush - which I am not sure I like, I would rather have them all straight. The picture does not show the slant.

Q: Will it work on my dog she has a undercoat. She is a sheltie ?

Yes it works very well . My dog has a double coat Buy it you will love the way it thins out coat.

Q: Is this brush good for short hair dogs

It should be. I have a golden retriever with areas of short hair and it works great. He love to be brushed with this brush.
