How the product actually worked for me...
I purchased this product to use in making a "rainbow cake" for my daughters birthday. The first color i used was pink. The color faded quickly in the batter, so i continued to add more, until i had used about half the bottle. The color was not as vibrant as i had hoped, but i went with it. Luckily i only had one baking pan so put it in the oven as i mixed the blue. Upon removing the finished pink cake layer i realized that all the color had apparently evaporated in the cooking process. (note: i have made rainbow cakes before, and know that the outside of the cake browns, so i cut the cake just to make sure, and yes, all the color was gone.) I baked the blue layer with the same outcome, the color was gone. At this point i changed my tactics and just colored frosting. The color did work better for the frosting. It still took a lot of coloring to change the white frosting to a color, and i ran out of both pink and blue in the process. So instead of a rainbow cake i had a white cake with rainbow frosting. I write this as i want others to know how this products works. It would use it again for frosting, but it will not work for coloring a cake.

Wonderful colors!
Wonderful bright colors! These samples are sugar crystals with one drop of each color (except for the orange= 1 drop red + 1 drop yellow, and the green = 1 drop yellow + 1 drop blue). Love it!

Loved this product
Loved this product! We don’t do artificial dyes and have tried other natural brands before, but this one is by far my favorite! Used it to color icing for cookies and it did not take very many drops to get very bright results. Green was the only “disappointment” because it was such a natural green it wasn’t the most appetizing shade, but worked well as a flower stem. Natural dyes do not work well in anything baked, so I only use them for frosting and icing and this brand exceeded my expectations.

Helped me make my best all-natural cake ever
I’ve been using natural colors for years and the outcome is always pretty disappointing. These colors came out great — what a pleasure! Here’s a caveat — the colors don’t mix. I tried to make purple and it did NOT work. Looked like mud. On the other hand, I was able to put three colors of frosting into one tube and they swirled together but didn’t blend. I never did that before and it looked very nice.

Perfect for non toxic paint
I purchased these to make homemade hand paints for my 7 month old son. First let me say these are not for the budget conscious! As other reviewers have stated you need to use the entire bottle to get any vibrancy - except for the yellow. It comes with 4 TINY and I mean miniscule bottles - red, yellow, blue and pink. The colors shown in the attached pictures are added to a cornstarch / water mix for paint. I made the green by mixing the yellow and blue (not the best green but for a fun project I dont mind) The colors are by no means pop out at you but these are natural - I suppose for the red you could always add beet juice to darken and brighten it.For me the most important factor is that they are non toxic and safe for myself and my son to touch - the color vibrancy comes last on my important list. If you are buying these for baking be prepared to use a lot with colors that are more on the dull side.Overall I am pleased for my use - not something I would be purchasing regulary and cant say I am wowed by any means but I am happy with the outcome and ready for some rainy day painting!

Very Subtle Plant-Based Dyes for Soaps
I love that these food colorings are all-natural. They contain plant dyes with vegetable glycerin. I used them in my homemade, plant-based bar soaps. The dyes are very faint in color. In the soaps you see, I used yellow, pink and purple (pink & blue). For me, the fact that these are natural dyes makes it worth it. But I was unhappy to find that they came out with a larger set of colors for a couple dollars more after I'd already used these. Overall, good product.

Tiny 0.375 ounce bottles. Need lots of product to create saturated colors.
This review is for those who may cook and use this product for other craft and art projects.First, a big thank you to all those who took the time to write reviews and post photos. The major points are:1) The bottles are very tiny at 0.375 ounces per bottle.2) When heated or cooked, the colors may disappear.3) A lot of drops are needed to produce strong colors.4) The red is not the dark apple red we are familiar with in making candies and red velvet cakes.5) The yellow is a shade of pale orange. Now for the good and not-so-good or needs improvement:Pros:* Plant-based food dyes with clearly explained ingredients.* The tiny tin can can be repurposed as a candle holder or for small items or spices. I plan to use mine for holding a travel sewing kit or camping kit (fire starters or first aid.)* In low amounts, the flavors are not noticeable.* In large amounts some people may notice a change in flavor - not bitter and not bad. I have not tried larger amounts, but small amounts are okay. I will update when I try the product on a larger project.* The blue is very pretty.* I have not tried mixing colors.* The colors darken over time. - The blue will look like a blue sky. - The yellow will look orange. - The dried red will look like an orange-pink-red that has no name that I can find. - The dried pink has a purple tint but is still a pink.* The photos show the wet and dry colors on paper.Cons:* The tubes contain a couple of teaspoons in each tube. This is important because in large batches, a lot of tubes will be needed to achieve a strong color.- each bottle is 0.375 ounces US.All 4 bottles added together are 9 US teaspoons or 3 tablespoons for all the bottles added together - not per bottle. To be clear: Those are very very very tiny bottles. I keep repeating that point because some people are planning a big project. When you read the reports that makers are using entire bottles to create colors, please try to understand that when using natural products, this dilution is to be expected. My point is to recommend that you order enough product or bigger sizes to complete your projects.Reduce your the amount of liquid in your recipe to accommodate the extra fluids. I hope I just saved someone from disappointment and saved their budgeted-money. Some people are teachers. When I taught, I was expected to purchase supplies from my salary. People need to understand the tiny amount of dye they are buying.* As other reviewers have shown, when baked, the color disappears. That detail would make a great visual science lesson of how heat creates a chemical reaction in baked goods. As for my needs, I am trying to find a natural dye that does not turn clear when baked.* I need a strong red color. The color red in this set looks like a dark carrot orange color. I like the orange but I need a strong red.* I plan to order beet color dye and keep trying to find a stronger red that can be baked for red velvet cake. If anyone has the answer - please share.Final thoughts:1) I am satisfied with my purchase because of the individuals who wrote positive and negative reviews. I understood what I was buying, but must admit I was surprised that the orange was called Natural Red and tiny bottle sizes compared to the cost. When I saw beta carotene as one of the ingredients, I should have known the red would tend towards the orange spectrum.2) This is an expensive product. The cute metal van is not enough to justify the cost. If the plastic bottles break or leak, the can will likely seal the fluids. The choice is to pay far more for a healthy product or pay far less for an artificial dye created with by-products of the petroleum industry and insects. For now I am okay with my decision to purchase this product and will update as I experiment with the product. I have included photos to show the size and colors. As the colors dry, they darken. Maybe prepare your colored items a few hours earlier then add more dye if needed. As always, I hope you find this review helpful in your decision making process.
