Recently had shoulder surgery and my arm is in a sling . Basically one armed right now so trying to button up freshly washed blue jeans has been impossible due to fact that the washing shrinks the waist line and I don't want to re injure my tendons . I bought this stretcher to see if it would help expand my waist band on my jeans and sure enough , it works great . Can fasten my pants with only 1 hand . Worked good. See photos. Had some cotton and cotton blend pants with tight waists due to laundry shrinkage. Got them back to the original size. First I pulled up the zipper without fastening the button or hook. I used a towel and tight vice grips to hold the waist closed. If you use the normal garment fasteners they will likely break due to the force of the stretching. Next I put the device in the waist band. Make sure it's centered in the waistband because that is what needs to be stretched. Using hands I tightened the stretcher so it was firmly in place, then tightened a bit more with a wrench - not too tight. At this point I misted the waist band with distilled water (tap water can cause stains). After misting I tightened a bit more and left several hours until the fabric was dry. The waist returned to its original size. I wouldn't recommend this on pants that have a back seam in the waste. You might end up breaking that seam. For pants that have not shrunk, proceed cautiously because there may only be a little stretch available beyond the actual size. The important thing to remember is to use clamping during stretching to hold the waistband close, not the garment fasteners, which will be over stressed. BE CAREFUL. You can damage your garment if you apply excessive stretch. Maybe practice with old clothing first.

Have around the house.

Allowed me to put a dozen pair of pants in the wearable pile vs the 'need to cut back on the beer' pile. Easy to use once you do a couple. Quality materials. Wish I'd seen/bought sooner.

Flimsy. Too hard to use

It seems okay for now, it's a little wobbly because there's only 1 center rod supporting it, but it seems to work. I may've given more or less stars if Amazon had given me a month instead of a week ( approx ) of use before asking for a rating. Because of the short amount of time that I've used it, I really have know idea how it will hold up with repeated use. That's the reason I use the word seems so much.

Works how it should. A little wax or graphite on the threads relieves friction.

Works well stretched my denim jeans that appeared to have been misized down one waist size by the manufacturer.

Brilliant. Very sceptical about product but had a pair of jeans that were very tight at waist and very uncomfortable. Wet inner side of waist band with water in a spray bottle, fitted expander, tightened expander, once tight wet outside of waist band. Note I did as others recommended and moved front button of jeans in between the 2 ends of the stretcher, then undid button and held jeans together at front using a vice clamp, a couple of hand clamps tbh. Tightened 2 or 3 more times, maybe a bit too much as next morning tried on jeans and they were so loose I had to put on a thicker shirt tucked into them to hold them up. Not kidding. About 10 hours on stretch. Will need to wait and see how robust it is so will update review once I have done some more pairs.

I tried this by just spraying the items i wanted to stretch but didn't get much of a result. I then washed them in cold water and tried again and definitely saw results. The instructions aren't clear enough and putting the pieces together or knowing which way to wind to expand is more trial and error. But i at least achieved some results.
