Works in the sand
My hubby loved it. He owns his own construction company so I got this for fun to take to the beach and he enjoyed it surprisingly the battery life was great in the sand. So it is not just fun for kids adults had a blast playing with it also. Well worth the money I think.

Great birthday gift
My 6 year old LOVES this. He played with it the whole time the day after he opened it. I would suggest charging the batteries before wrapping it up and gifting it. They don’t take too long but it definitely makes it easier to start playing.

Can't use as advertised
Ended up returning this item. Initial impressions of the build quality were great. Nice looking device with smooth controls. However, after using it for roughly 5 min with some dirt (no mud or sand), the mechanisms already started feeling jittery. Debris easily gets in the crevices and it seems the gears/motors are not designed/built to withstand using this toy as an excavator. So this is not really good if you plan to use it advertised.

Durability
Super fun! Took this to the beach and played with it in the sand to stay occupied. Even rinsed it off with water to wash the sand off and everything still works fine like nothing ever happened!

My 30+ husband loves this. It's a fun toy, even for kids, easy to use and the size is perfect. Especially for a beach day.

We purchased this for Christmas so we are outside our return window. When it arrived we placed it aside for Christmas. When the boys opened it it did not work properly. I’ve contacted the seller and they are refunding our purchase so we can purchase another one. The toy itself is great. Looking forward to using the new one.
