This thing is easy to install and works perfectly. It closes the door without slamming it. I installed it directly on the door jam l, predrilling the holes so it didn't split the wood.

So for a while, I thought the tension rod was to screw in some sort of mechanism to tighten or loosen the tension like on a bicycle. What I finally discovered is that there are multiple holes you can screw the roller arm on. So if you wanted more tension, you would use the tension rod to turn the middle section more, and move the roller arm to the next hole!I ended up using the first hole since we didn't want to have the door fully close (so our cat can get in and out) but enough to make sure the door close so the light from the other room doesn't come in and wake our baby! It works perfectly for our situation.It was fairly easy to install!

Easy to install and it pushes our panel door closed just fine. If I let it do it's job from a "wide open" position, it will close the door completely. If the door is only open a few inches, it will close it to the door jam, but not strong enough for the door to latch. For our home, works just fine and well worth the modest price!
