Perfect rice and a great slow cooker
Easiest and best rice steamer I've had. I have rice probably 3 times a week, and have always used a rice steamer. First off, I simply used the carb reduce function rather than the brown or white rice setting, put in 2 cups just to see how it worked, and was amazed with the result. Didn't wash the rice, just put it in the metal basket, filled water to the 2 cup mark on the basket, and pressed start....thats it. Feels like it washed the rice as it cooked and ended up with perfectly fluffy and soft rice. A real trade up from my 35 quid Russell hobbs which always stuck a bit, and always came out a bit stodgy and soggy, even if washed properly. Also, used this same steamer to slow cook a beef casserole for Sunday dinner and again, great result, even compared to my slow cooker and instant pot duo. I feel its almost verging on a multicooker as its not just a rice steamer, I even used it to saute the onions before I slow cooked. Totally worth what I paid for it, and I won't be looking back....and thats from a lifelong Russell hobbs user who is now 100% converted to the Instant...excuse the video, it's hard to unbox one handed and record at the same time, I also recorded the carb reduce process as that was what I bought it for mainly. Also fully dishwasher safe, the top part inside the lid unclips and just bung it all in, easy to clean, easy to use and I feel a total bargain.

Good quality and good size
Great quality and versatile kitchen appliance. Size wise it will cook for a good number when you need it.

Great Rice, Porridge Lava!
This makes great white rice, though we add slightly more water than it suggests to get it perfect for us... Have tried following the instructions for reduced carb rice, which ended up not cooked ... when I cooked one cup of porridge on the suggested setting it erupted through the vent like lava. I bought it to do the different tasks as I am disabled so lifting hot pans not safe. Now wishing I had gone for a straight rice cooker as won't be doing those things again the waste of food and clean up are too much for me to cope with.

Not non stick, also doesn’t cook rice well
I can’t believe after all the research and faffing to figure out how to use this rice cooker, it’s not something that is functional or nearly as good as all the other Instant product I’ve loved. 1st off. I’m Asian and used a FREE with purchase cheapo little Sanyo rice cooker until the outer plastic gave way after 20 years. It cooked better rice than this magic looking beautiful little machine. The instructions are terribly confusing. And hello, cooking rice on the upper stainless tray is NOT nonstick! Whaaat on earth. I measure the water wrong for the first time in my Asian life. Alas, it’s a sift/ double tray, so you’ll have water slowly drain out below which won’t be absorbed. I didn’t know and closed the lid. Opened to hard rice. Added water to rescue. Next time I followed the lines inside the pot, which is hard to read. It doesn’t hold nearly as much rice as such a big space can provide. And no. It’s not a great idea. As when I want to add other ingredients to flavor my rice, like dried scallops and mushrooms, they get washed out and all the flavors left in the water below sitting useless. So that brings me to experiment to cook with the lower bigger pot. To experiment, I ignore the top stainless tray. I thought using it like a regular old skool rice cooker would be fail safe - nope, the bottom was stuck! It’s the world’s most terrible non stick, easy clean up is one of the core needs of a rice cooker. Stainless steel, definitely sticks, lower pot WITH NON STICK COATING - also sticks! See pict. The low carb function is the only thing I came for, and I haven’t even gotten around to it. As just trying to make a decent pot of rice was a real challenge. I tried for a month. I don’t understand how in 2024 ANY appliance that claims non stick would not be. With Instant being such a big name, this product did not deliver. The machine is pretty I give you that. But there’s no way to hold the inner pot when you try to scoop and it’s moving all about. There is also no water catcher when you open the lid, so the water just falls onto the unit itself. A design flaw or just don’t care? Bizarre almost. While I’m lucky enough to get it to cook, it seems to favor only long grain/Basmati. Japanese rice came out terrible. Forget about adding extra ingredients to rice to cook together. It’ll just stick to high heavens. Moving on. I’m super thankful Amazon is letting me return this disappointing purchase. Back to the drawing board please Instant! And I’m off to research and replace with a REAL rice cooker. I can’t believe it as this is my 3rd Instant kitchen appliance. 1. Instant Pot 2. Vortex air fryer. Sorry. This is a total fail and I’m sadly done trying.

EDIT: Unit has now stopped making even white rice properly and I can't get any help from Instant Pot. OK rice cooker and steamer. Makes white and brown rice on timer programs, not using moisture to gauge doneness like other rice cookers (it shuts off and shows "End" while my brown rice is still swimming in liquid). Steams OK (vegetables and dumplings). Doesn't have a problem cooking rice mixed with seasonings and chopped ingredients. So far, it's about the same as a slightly defective cheap single-button rice cooker with the addition of a saute and slow cook functionality. However, the rice cooker isn't good for brown rice or whole grains (cooking sorghum millet took FOUR brown rice cycles and still needed to be drained). You can't adjust the temperature of the saute or the temperature of the slow cooker (you get ONE setting for each). You can't adjust the time of the rice cooking cycles. The gasket of the inner lid is fastened on and can't be washed separately, and the assembly is finicky to wash by hand. Water spills all over the place when you open the lid and there's nowhere for it to go but the countertop (there's no cup to catch moisture or even a rim to prevent leakage). The manual that promises thousands of recipes on the site is wrong. There are precisely zero recipes for the rice cooker on the site. When I contacted support, they told me to download the app. There are zero recipes for the rice cooker in the app, which you must register for (not in this lifetime am I going to sign up for intrusive marketing to get functionality I paid for). Irish customers need to know that you can't purchase replacement parts like a rice cooker bowl or inner lid because the site accepts only orders from and to the UK. While this includes Northern Ireland, I shouldn't have to drive across the border to a mail drop location to pick up my order. Instant Pot support said that's the only solution. If they sell the machine in Ireland, they need to make parts available here too. I'm thinking of sending this back. I already have a basic rice cooker, a steamer, a frying pan, and a slow cooker. I even have two Instant Pots (with so-called rice cooker functionality that doesn't work well). This is way too overpriced for what it is - it's not a replacement for a digital rice cooker at all. Edit: My husband decided to keep it. We ordered a replacement inner lid from the Instant Pot UK website. Instead of the inner lid, they sent a cheap, oddly-shaped plastic cup that is not a rice measuring cup. I don't know what it even is. It isn't a part for the rice cooker. I wanted to contact their customer service and ask about it, but there is NO PHONE NUMBER for UK customer service - not on the website or even using Google and AI. Don't buy this.
