Perfect for the beginning
These were perfect for starting out my kid on wood turning on a home lathe. Not the same as HSS but much easier for a beginner to not have to sharpen the edges.

Really nice tools
Great overall. Only issue was that the platform the diamond shaped cutter sits on was a little wider than the cutter which limited the depth of the cut before the platform engaged the wood; a few minutes with a fine file fixed the problem.
