Best Multi-Band SSB Radio Ever!
So I got this XHDATA radio, (another one - I know!) but this is probably their best all round set - the XHDATA D-808. First off, the sound on this thing is really clear. The built-in speaker’s got some decent oomph to it – you’re not left straining to hear, even if there’s a bit of noise about. Using the Bandwidth button can also improve the sound. It picks up all sorts of stations too, so whether you’re after FM, MW, or all the shortwave stuff, it’s got you sorted - including Air Band, and Single Side Band - so cool for amateur radio listening & other SSB broadcasts. Size-wise, it’s quite neat - just big enough to feel sturdy but not a faff to carry around. Fits right in my small shoulder sports bag, which is a great for taking it down the allotments or on a weekend away. There’s even a 3.5mm headphone jack, so if you’re in the garden or on the bus, you can stick your headphones in and listen away without bothering folks around you. Charging it’s a doddle too – comes with a USB-C cord, and there’s a decent battery in it, so you’re not forever hunting for a plug. It lasts ages once it’s charged, mind, which is ideal if you’re outdoors a lot. It’s got some belting extras as well – there’s an automatic scan function, so it finds and saves loads of stations for you (up to 100 per band, they reckon). You can even set it as an alarm clock, which I wasn’t expecting – either a nice gentle radio wake-up or a buzzer if you’re a heavy sleeper. It’s dead handy with the time display, too – you can set it yourself or it’ll do it for you if it picks up the RDS signal (on FM). Comes with everything you’d need – USB cord, long wire antenna, battery (just remember to take that little bit of paper out before using), and even a carry bag to keep it safe. Plus, there’s a 12-month warranty, so you’re covered if anything goes wrong. All in all, it’s cracking value for money. Decent sound, loads of features, and portable enough for wherever you’re headed. I've included loads of different pictures in the review. I mean, it looks very stylish as well 👍 Also, I can only upload one video with Amazon - so did a quick shortwave scan when I was out in the garden - picking up several international broadcasters. I still haven't got through experiencing everything on the radio as there's so much to play with and enjoy! 👍😀 But... I'm so enthused about it... lol... I just wanted to tell you all about it! So - "Yes" - I would highly recommend the XHDATA D-808. In my view it's probably the best one they make, and from what I've experienced so far of it I don't think there's a better one (made by anyone) that performs well and is such a great price 👍😀 Get one today!

High Quality AM/FM Super Light Radio
Excellent FM and SW reception using DSP techniques.Very sensitive for its size and largely free of internal noise on these bands. The MW reception is also good except on my particular radio there is internally generated noise in the range of 738 -774kHz which spoils reception of stations on these frequencies . Long Wave: The LW band is deaf and is incapable of adequate reception of a number of high power stations which put good signals into this area (south coast of Ireland) eg BBCR4, Europe 1, RTL and RTE.It requires an external inductively coupled loop to bring stations up to acceptable signal quality. This is a pity because these are the only stations capable of very wide stable coverage both by day and night over medium range distances across borders. Designers please note! On MW and SW the audio fidelity is excellent with wide band 12KHz bandwidth /6kHz audio, very linear response and a choice of narrower bandwidths for weaker stations in crowded band conditions. The FM audio is also very high quality with excellent stereo separation on headphones. FM works very well under strong signal conditions with overloading issues , a common feature on many portables near strong transmitters, almost completely absent. The FM bandwidth is well chosen and again detection of the audio is very linear. The FM section is also very sensitive for a radio of its size. Other features:SSB reception on SW is very good and easy to use and there is also a fine tuning control to clarify received signals .The external aerial socket is useful for short wave and FM, improving signal strength of weaker stations. The signal strength meter is very useful and provides meaningful readings and is good for comparing the strengths of various stations. The air band also works very well and again is very sensitive. The radio comes with a good quality rechargeable battery and can be charged using a standard USB connection. It is very efficient with many hours use from a single charge even with the display light on.The FM radio has full RDS features - useful for station identification and radio text. An excellent radio over all for its price and size but not for Long Wave reception unless you have a LW loop or can make your own!

Beautiful radio, amazing reception and sound.
This radio is amazing. The amount of features included in such a small package is astounding. I bought this as a DSP alternative to an analog Tecsun so I can listen to specific shortwave shows and am blown away by quality. I've seen a lot of reviews complaining about weaker stations being too quiet but this is most likely due to the bandwidth being set correctly. I find opening the bandwidth to max until I find a station I like solves that problem. No need to filter a station until you've found it. The ability to key in frequencies is a welcome addition as rolling an analog dial can get tiring after a while. The SSB is great and I've spent several nights tuning into Ham radio conversation and am very impressed with the level of reception. The battery life is equally as impressive. After one charge, I've run this radio regularly in the day and throughout the night for 3 days and it's still going. My only caveat would be the slightly non standard battery but these are readily available online as are mobile phone batteries so it's a non-issue really. If you have an interest in shortwave, radio or even air traffic control listening, this is an excellent radio which serves all in a uniquely small form factor. Similarly, if you're looking for a decent, small FM/AM radio for listening in a workshop or home, this radio provides fantastic sound quality and features for a very reasonable price.
