Very sensitive mic! It isn't super high fidelity, but given the size and purpose (outdoor security camera) it works great and is reasonably clear. I did need to turn the gain down though.

I purchased this 2-pack of CCTV microphones to add audio to my DVR surveillance setup, and they’ve worked great so far. The high sensitivity picks up surrounding sounds clearly, which is helpful for monitoring outdoor activity or entrances. Installation was simple thanks to the RCA connection, and the built-in preamp ensures the audio signal is strong enough without needing additional equipment. I was also impressed by the solid construction, which gives confidence in long-term use. These microphones are ideal for basic audio monitoring and pair well with most standard security systems. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade for more complete surveillance coverage.

This review does NOT include a reasonable complaint about the microphones. They work and they work well. They have held up for over a year. I would get these again without hesitation. The first thing to consider is you will need to buy the cables that will allow you to use microphones. Some cables may come with fittings for these but many do not. I have seen BNC cables with 3 ends. The extra fitting is for microphones to use. The cost of additional cables is an additional expected expense. If you want sound then you have to buy both microphones and the cables needed to bring the sound to your recorder. Installation of the microphones confused me at first. Then I discovered that it was really simple. Unplug the power wire from your camera. Plug that power wire into the microphone power in plug. Next plug the power out end of the microphone into the power in plug of the camera use the other connector as required and you are finished. It was harder to figure out than it was to install. Why only 4 stars? At this price point we can not expect noise cancelling ability. The microphone can pick up a lot of wind noise. The solution is to make a windsock of some type that fits over the microphone designed to reduce or maybe even eliminate wind noise. This microphone is not only lacking a wind sock but no wind sock is offered as an extra cost option. I know adding a wind sock would increase the price somewhat. It would greatly improve the microphones capability if it was offered. Because a wind sock for noise reduction is neither included nor offered as an accessory I took 1 star off. If a wind sock was included or available as an extra cost option I would upgrade this to 5 stars. EDIT: These microphones have held up for over 3 years now with no issues. They are plenty sensitive. I still wish they offered a windsock to reduce or eliminate wind noise.

Works great for my DVR audio input

I bought this as a replacement microphone for the one that came with my Chinese PTZ camera and only lasted until the first rain. So far it has held up against the elements, especially heavy rain with no issues. I love its small and stealthy footprint. Sound quality and sensitivity are impressive for something in this price range. I'm using it with the G.726 codec (8kHz sampling rate) and adjusted the input level on the camera, rather than messing around with the little gain screw on the mic itself. I'll probably cover the adjustment screw with electrical tape to make sure no water and dirt are getting in over time. The noise level is low enough to clearly pick up the first crickets of the season and even things like a plastic tarp gently flapping in the wind. Environmental noises like cars and birds are crisp and clear for a CCTV system. I haven't had a chance to eavesdrop on a conversation yet, but my cats certainly approve of the authentic replication of the bird sounds on my property :) Update: After a recent rain shower it is now dead. It lasted only a little over half a year, which is why I'm knocking off two stars.

Worked great right out of the box! My camera is P.O.E. (power over ethernet) so I had to add a power supply but I knew that from the start. It has a gain adjustment but never touched it because it sounded great from the factory.

Packaging and delivery was fine, but the product itself WASN'T. I bought 2 twin-packs, tested two of the four, based on which ALL FOUR ARE GOING BACK! a) The shrink tube doesn't adequately secure the circuit board to the output cable. b) The sensitivity adjustment control does not have "end stops". c) The output level does not reach "headphone level" that is needed for most audio input terminals. Level is too low to be used on DVR audio input, UNHAPPY. Tested it on the audio input of a 19" monitor, output level of this device is too low to drive the monitor's audio circuitry to the same output level as other "line level" signals. VERY UNHAPPY! At certain level of the GAIN control, the output goes into distorted GARBAGE, as if it is into OSCILLATION, even though the level was still remained MUCH LOWER than "line level". EXTREMELY UNHAPPY! One of the two was less prone to go into distortion than the other. User manual needs to be REWRITTEN with proper grammar. ENOUGH SAID!

I was expecting same poor quality AC sounding hum. I monitoring honey bees so low frequency performance is important. I don't have to use noise reduction at all! I ordered two. I might order two more. (Update 4/7/2024 Great unit. I can not not over express how good the audio quality from this mic is. I use it to stream and record Honey Bees. A wind muff made this superb even in the wind. Every other mic I have tried has a low hum/noise in the same frequency ranges as bee hums and buzzes. However, definitely not directly weather proof. Ran for an entire year of direct exposure. I have a second unit. This would work great inside a protective compartment. I think inside a void in a camera mount housing is the intent. I am looking for a little plastic tip and then going to dip it in silicone. Thinking of an angle I can drill in entrance reducer block of wood that slips in the front of hive. I ORDERED TWO MORE! )
