this is big. and heavy. some parts of my front deck get pretty windy and my old umbrella bases had old hoses or big stones and they would still topple. I will update when the winds test this one out. I don't understand, these used to be very expensive at local hardware stores. So I've got my fingers crossed. Update: less than a week later...we had winds of 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. I heard something crash out on the patio. Get this, the base was solid on the ground, the umbella was inside out and the pole was bent. I wrestled the pole out of the base and almost did a Mary Poppins. I managed to get the canopy out of the ribs and righted the ribs which I'll inspect in the daylight and cranked them back into place with the canopy loose. Who knew the pole and cranking system would still work! Uhmmm the base was just fine. Hah!

Heavy, as it should be, has a nice decorated textured pattern and a kind of brushed bronze color that makes it look like natural aging. The stand includes several adapters to fit various umbrellas, assembly was simple and easy. Because it is heavy, be cautious when taking it out of the box or standing it on the side to install the poll tube. Dropping it on your food would cause some serious damage!

Terrible. Not sturdy. Constantly need to tighten.

product arrived in damaged box that was half assed taped back together. steel pipe holder and all hardware parts and pieces completely missing. the bronze finish was cheap gold spray paint that looked more like graffiti. poor quality control don't waste your money and time

Does it's job. It's heavy but the paint job is pretty bad.

Item arrived 1 day after ordering undamaged, box inside of a box. No damage to boxes. Weight is good, plastic covering (that design you see in pic is a plastic cover) over weighted base definitely not all cast iron. Not a problem, purchased to sit on a stump in yard with a light mounted on the top (instead of bird house). Took some "McGivering" but worked out. Star lost for "pole holder - base of stand" bent out of shape by weighted base (I guess in transport). "Round" pole cannot be placed inside of "Oval" opening. Part of plastic that helps to stabilize pole cannot be used due to damaged pole base. Jigger and retro fitted by adding another defective part to the Oval opening screwing in and securing with zip ties. In the end it worked out fine, just had to figure out how to get it to stabilize on the stump. Has stood up to wind and rain so far. Shipping Suggestion: separate box for the base, and separate box for the pole holder this way hopefully the weighted base does not squeeze / damage the pole holder.

Heavy enough for my umbrella to stay put. We get alot of winds here in the Louisiana swamp near the lake, and our umbrella is always flying up. This is a great hold down for the umbrella. Love it!
