Good purchase
The product seems to work very well. I was not real sure how to take an accurate reading, but I figured it out after working with it for a few minutes. Good purchase.

Not accurate, false negative?
I have water damage at home. I knew the drywall was wet. I compared with my friend's tool which accurately showed humidity almost at 100%, while this one showed 40% and data was inconsistent in other areas. Maybe penetration is poor. I returned the item.

Great indoor unit but outside on a sunny day, forget it. Not recommend for firewood.
This makes a great moisture meter without the two puncture pins like most moisture meters do have.Everything needed to get started comes in the box. That's the meter, small Phillips screwdriver, and 3 aaa batteries, all in a nylon carry bag with a short 3-inch loop handle.Using this inside provides you with a vibrant color screen. However, using this outside on a sunny day will leave you thinking that the display is malfunctioning. It's extremely hard to view the screen outside and will leave you trying to create a shadow to see the screen or move this all around till you can see something.I find that using this requires more effort as you will need to keep constant pressure on the unit against what you are trying to measure. When comparing this to my puncture pin style unit, you have to press this one considerably harder against the object to get a comparable reading, whereas the pin style is fairly easy and instant.Trying to use this on firewood was a complete fail unless that piece has a perfectly smooth and wide enough edge to put this against; you will not get any usable reading.I would not recommend this if you are going to use this to check your aging firewood for moisture. You should stick with the needle type.If your intentions are to use this inside to trace down moisture in studs, concrete walls, etc., this is a decent option.

looks good seems accurate
Seems to work great, tested with various conditions and seemed to be accurate however when reading ambient humidity for zero seemed to be correct. but I don't really have anything to compare it to?

Super easy to use, very bright screen
I wanted a moisture meter but never really "needed one". That was because i thought you only need this for something like checking how wet a 2x4 are. Building a recent room in my basement i wanted to check a few lumber pieces since they felt heavier than normal and this tool did show the 2x4 had more moisture than others. But the weight of them also gave it away. However they were dry enough to be put into the framing which i did not know until i tested and saw that they were within appropriate measurements. The screen here is bright and colorful. Every time it turns on i'm surprised by the colors, nice to have a screen that looks good without the black and gray color schemes.Read the instructions they are pretty simple and once you get familiar with the device you'll be set. There are two sensors on this tester, Ambient sensor that is at the top of the screen, while the actual moisture sensor is on the back of the device. Takes a bit of getting used to at first. It's very accurate and response to different types of materials and moisture between them.If you don't care for moisture of your 2x4's well this has allot more uses. You can test it on your drywall, do you have any hidden moisture? now you can check. Letting things dry but not sure if it's completely cured will now you don't have to guess as youll get a number reading that you can compare to earlier or later test to actually know, instead of guessing.

Hey, this actually works!
If you're familiar with moisture meters at all, you know that most of them have pins you have to stick in the object (usually wood) that, even though its normally minor, causes a small amount of damage to the wood or drywall or whatever else. And because I occasionally make epoxy resin furniture, I was kind of stoked to find a moisture meter that didn't rely on pins to work. I was even more stoked to see it sells for less than $50!But does it work? It sure does! I popped the batteries in and immediately set about checking things in my house...set to drywall, it seems to think my drywall is pretty dry. I set it to hardwood to check the large piece of live-edge I have in my shed. Seeing as it's about 3 seasons old, it showed it to be nice and dry. Perfect. Most of my readings between 5 and 8, exactly what I would expect. But how does it work on wood you know is still wet? Well, I have a small tree growing beside my shed, and after I tested my well seasoned piece of live edge, I tested this living tree. And even though it was clearly not a flat, level surface but rather rough, uneven tree bark, I still got solid readings in the 40's and 50's. It definitely seemed to think this live wood was wet, and it was once again correct. Now, I don't have a high dollar pro-level moisture meter to test this against for calibration, but I do have some pretty solid "knowns" to test this on, and I got exactly what I would have expected to read on everything I tested, from drywall to seasoned live edge to actual living wood. So my impression is that this is actually pretty accurate on whatever you test it on. Huge marks for this.I do have a few small gripes. One is the use of AAA batteries, which of course you have a battery door and a non-captive screw to deal with (don't drop it). A small rechargeable pack and USB C plug to charge it would be a huge plus. But then, it is less than $50...And also, the display, whilst VERY attractive indoors, when viewed at the proper angle, becomes very difficult to read in direct sunlight or at some odd angle. In fact, the viewing angle and trouble seeing the display in direct sunlight is why I marked this down 1 star. Many folks might be using this outdoors to check vendor stock of wood and in bright conditions this might prove to be difficult.Display and AAA battery gripes aside, do I recommend it? Oh, absolutely! It's a great moisture meter for less than $50 that doesn't poke holes in things. And it works. And it's simple and easy to use. And it seems very accurate. If you work with wood (or anything else this will measure) and need to check moisture content, this little tool is amazing. Yeah it still runs on AAA batteries, and yeah it's tough to read in bright sunlight, but when I look at cost vs performance, the good far outweighs the bad here. This is very solid 4 star meter, and is only 1 generation away from perfection if they make a few changes for the next model.
