Some say their hardware won't do such with this cable so choose wisely. For me I'm on a Red Magic 8s Pro starting with USB-c to Hdmi adapter then this cable to a dp in a scepter m25. Also functions equally as well on Asus G531G Laptop to same monitor without USB-c adapteramd neither require USB power.

I bought two of these to use in a multi monitor setup and they worked great at first, but within two weeks, both have stopped working entirely. I ended up getting a display port compatible docking station for my laptop which was cheaper than these expensive adapters. I recommend you do the same if possible.

It is difficult to find this particular cable--this one is unidirectional (HDMI on source to DisplayPort on display/monitor), while most are unidirectional in the other direction (DisplayPort on source and HDMI on monitor) and won't work for this application. This item is what you need to connect a modern laptop with an HDMI output to an older monitor that doesn't have an HDMI input but does have a DisplayPort input. And it works perfectly!

Great solution to a bad setup on my part. This helps my HDMI only pc connect to my DisplayPort monitor at the expense of one of my usb a ports. Not a bad deal.

Worked well. Just wish I had bought the 10’ version for a little extra $.
