These are the best method for storing food. They are food grade containers but what sets them aside from normal ones are the screw on tops. No more trying to pry off lids. Just unscrew and you have full access to the contents inside. I'll only by these from now on, and recommend this to everyone.

Great lud & bucket fit.

Using to transport and store rain water. Drain my rain barrel into these, transport to another barrel at my garden. Sturdy with easy to operate threaded lid.

The lid comes in two parts. A ring that fits over the bucket and the screw-on top. It's very difficult to separate the two. There are four indentations where I inserted a screwdriver and twist a bit to loosen. Then holding it in one hand I used a rubber mallet to hit one of the crossbars on the lid until I was able to unscrew the cover. Then, I placed the ring over the bucket on a concrete surface and, using the rubber mallet, pounded the ring onto the bucket. It doesn't go on easily. After that, the cover screws on nicely and the bucket assembly is airtight and easy to open/close. Zero stars for ease of assembly, 5 stars after assembly.

I use for food storage. Lid is a bit hard to get on but found that by removing the center screw on lid and placing the ring on the bucket lid and placing a pievce of 2x4 long enough to fit aross the whole ring and hit the 2x4 with a large rubber mallet, the lid ring goes on fairly easy. I have about 20 of these buckets and have only cracked one ring while putting on lid system and the lid still works. Don't know how air or water tight these lids are but I figure but from what I can tell the pantry months will not be able to bypass the seal. I also throw some dried Bay Leaves in the bucket to help repel any bugs. These buckets with the lids on stack nicely. Using them to store bird seeds, backpacking meals, larges bags of flour and sugar. I use a label gun to ID what is stored in each bucket.

Top quality storage buckets. I have two; one for dry cat food, the other for mixed bird seed. Buckets keep the food safe from ingenious mice who are now trying their best to find a way into house as winter approaches.
