The camera is great although rather complicated for a point and shoot. Image quality is quite good, but unless you view them on a very nice monitor, hard to tell the difference from less expensive camera.I am very concerned about the package I received. Wrong and poorly printed user's manual came with the camera. When I power on the camera, language was not set in English. The box only has Japanese characters all over it, no English. I suspect this is a repackaged merchandise from Asian market although I can't confirm that.

At first looking at size in the picture seems large enough, but when I got it , was really dissappointed, you don't have enough space to hold it

The camera is amazing! Although I got the instruction manual in Chinese, I managed to find a PDF version on-line in English and read it over. The manual doesn't really say much. I think in order to understand the camera better it's best to watch tutorials. The package itself is great, although I didn't get the original Sony carrying case at first. It came with a case twice the size of the camera. As soon as I wrote to the seller though, they sent me the carrying case in no-time which was very nice. I highly recommned this camera if you want quality pictures and don't really know that much about cameras. I think it's a great starting point!

If you don't mind taking out the battery and card constantly to stop the horribly loud buzzing sound with auto focus, it will take good pictures. Here's the Sony response to my question -" I understand that the autofocus of your DSC-RX100 camera makes a loud buzzing sound and you would like to know if this is normal.I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. You may perform these troubleshooting steps to possibly resolve the problem:1. Perform a power reset. - Turn off the camera. - Remove the battery and memory card. - Press and hold the power button of the camera for 30 seconds. - Reinsert the battery and memory card.2. Reset the camera back to its default settings. - Press Menu on the camera. - Go to wrench icon 3. - Scroll down until you see Initialize. - Select it and choose Reset Default."Just to let you know, the problem recurs so you will be performing this task all the time! Doesn't this qualify as a defective product? Check out the videos on U-tube, you can see exactly what the camera does when it is constantly refocusing and the sound is very loud. So then Sony will ask you to send it in for repairs, don't mind the fact that you've just shelled out all that cash and now won't have a camera for who knows how long! This problem started soon after I bought the camera and I was hopeful that the power reset would last but it lasts just long enough for you to remember what a pleasure it was to use a quiet camera. I photograph the animals here on the farm so you can imagine their response to this buzzing camera - they take off! So much for that perfect photo![...]

I consider myself a photo-enthusiast and have only used Nikon SLRs and DSLRs over the years. Having all the gear is great but I really want to take good, quality images without loosing the ability to manually adjust and use filters. I found the perfect solution with Sony's RX100M2. This camera is amazingly versatile. Worried you'll loose the ability to attach the CPL or ND filter? Check Magfilters and threader adapter ring. Your shoulders will love you!
