Aquascape98907 Fountain Scale Free Water Treatment, 8-Ounce

I wish I had thought of taking before photos of how incredibly crusty I had allowed my floating pond fountain to get. But we had to drain it and events just got ahead of me so I stopped using it for over five years! When I got around to building a new pond I thought what the heck I would throw this in the pond and plug it in. IT STARTED PUMPING AND WATER WAS SHOOTING OUT!!! But the remote does not work on it and so I thought it was because the calcium build up on the lenses. It is in a fish and turtle pond so I couldn't risk using harsh abrasives. I searched and found AQUASCAPE so thought I would take a chance. GLAD I DID! I'm ordering more as I have more items to wash. What I did was fill a 5 gallon Lowe's bucket and I put three squirts in the water and soaked the fountain upside down for about three hours. Removed the fountain and used a rough bristled brush to scrape off the calcium. I didn't have to use much efforts.

I wanted to try this product for my indoor water fountain. I’ve had this fountain for many many years, and it had developed a huge amount of scale on it. After tedious work to restore the water fountain, I Purchased this product to see if it would help eliminate the scale as well as the scrubbing. I’m very pleased with this. it has kept my water, fountain, looking, pristine!

I wonder if I started using this too late. My scale is not gotten worse, but it is not gotten any better either.

CAUTION: As few reviews before have mentioned. When you open first time, the pump pops open and sprays the liquid all over. It got into my eyes, nose and mouth. Keep it away from your face when opening first time.

This works as advertised, one squirt per week in my fountain keeps it clear.

I should have read the reviews first so I would have been prepared for the pump to surge open after I had unwrapped the plastic and turned it so it could be used. It sprayed all over my face. Fortunately I wear glasses so none got in my eyes, but I had a split on my finger and it burned like heck! I’ve added one pump for my 10 gallon fountain but don’t know if it works yet. I’m not sure how to close the pump without shooting out another dose so guess I’ll just leave it open until the next application. As for the odor, it was not unpleasant, but only smelled where it sprayed on my hands and does not smell in the water. If it works, I’ll come back and give it a higher rating, but for now my experience was not good.

It does what it purports to do.

It may be a little early to determine (2 weeks) but so far this product is keeping the hard water stains from forming on my water fountain.
