Extremely quiet and efficient
Much easier than composting! Working well for us so far. Whisper quiet - no smell. Really impressed.

Best implement I have bought for my house this last year
Actually, it was my husband who urged me to write this review since I don't review items much. I went to his office room and said, "This food composter is one of the most important implements I have ever bought for our house." He said to write a review. I live rurally, and we are forever plagued unsurprisingly by mice, rats, and others. I had an outside food bin for composting, but the rats got into it all the time. When the rats started getting in walls of my very old home, and had apparently their evening meals on my compost bin, I learned of this recycler from friends. I purchased this on Amazon one year ago. OMG what a wonderful tool. I eliminated the outdoor compost pile (we did do some patching of our walls), and I use the food recycler 3x a week. It's quiet, I'm left with a fine powder like substance in the bottom, no mechanical problems, AND NO MORE RATS IN OUR WALLS!! Great product.

It's not loud!
I had the Lomi food composter and thought it was a miracle. Two years later it needed a repair. Customer support was unresponsive. Seriously crickets. I simply wanted to see if they could repair it. I complained to Amazon. They also had no luck in contacting Lomi. Thankfully they honored my loyality as a consumer, told me to return my broken Lomi, and gave me a credit. How great was that! I researched alternative composters and discovered the work horse of composters : the Food Cycler Eco 5! The reviews were excellent. Best of all, reviewers, and the company assurred me of the 3 year warantee! I pulled the trigger and ordered it. I LOVE it! Having been a loyal Lomi fan, I crossed over and now am a full fledged Food Cylcler Eco 5 fan. It is such a better, thoughtful, efficient product. When running, I barely hear it. The Lomi was SO LOUD! There are really helpful directions about maintenance, cleaning, and over all care. Absent with Lomi. The carbon cartridges are much easier to load. The run time is comprable to Lomi and yields the same type of compost. Still I know have upgraded! Forget the Lomi!

Highly recommend!
Works just as expected. Filled the bin with corn cobs, veggie peels, and food scraps. In about 5 hours it was turned into a mulch looking substance. The machine is very quiet and fits perfectly on a kitchen counter. There is no smell what so ever.

Great for composting!
We use this daily! Works great! The noise level is very mild and acceptable. I would say the only draw back is the smell sometimes, however it’s not a problem since we keep it in the garage.

Great for dealing with kitchen scraps. Annoyingly close to perfect
This has helped in so many ways for dealing with food scraps, and giving us a way to continue composting the food scraps we generate in the winter. Only a couple things which IMO would make this perfect, but not really things I'd knock a star down for: - it'd be nice if the bucket were a bit easier to clean. Sometimes things get stuck under the blades which can be difficult/hazardous to clean. - our electric utility switched to time of day pricing, and as a general rule we try to run everything we can at off-peak hours. A "delayed start" timer function would be great for this.

Exciting!
A pot full of veg and fruit trimmings, tea bags, coffee grounds, shrimp shells, popcorn hulls, etc., turned into this fine grained compost in a few hours. Just set the basket full of food scraps in the housing, turn it on and it takes care of itself. Quiet and unobtrusive while processing. The container has a filter in the lid that completely prevents odors as it sits on the kitchen counter collecting material to be processed. This is a simple overnight sensation. It reduces the bulk of food processed by about 90%. The resulting compost is dry and fluffy (as long as you don't add greasy foods or too much doughy or high-liquid-content scraps). The finished compost easily empties into a bucket just waiting for the spring garden. We've always had great success with Vitamix products, and this one did not disappoint.

I love this machine. I did a ton of research prior to purchasing it and I chose this model for a few very important reasons. 1. 5l bucket 2. Quiet 3. Efficient 4. What it could compost 5. Refillable charcoal that can be purchased at a pet/ fish store I have a large 2 side outdoor drum composter that works really well. Easy to use and fill , BUT, it cannot be used in the Canadian winter. I threw a lot of stuff away and I was heartbroken by it. This machine is an absolute game changer. My first batch consisted of chicken bones, paper towels, coffee and tea grounds with filters and bags and assorted vegetables. Oh my gosh! I can’t tell you exactly how long it took as I turned it on before bed, but I woke up to a third of an ice cream pail, a little over 1 litre, of the weirdest looking compost I’ve ever seen. It looked like blown in insulation with a bit of dirt mixed in! Nominal smell and so so cool! I have family members who have this and they rave about it. It is expensive and the machine is heavier than I anticipated, but worth it! The 5l bucket comes with a filtered lid so it can sit on the counter to be filled and DOESNT smell! This is an amazing machine and worth every penny. If you wanted, wait until Black Friday to see if there is a discount? I bought it with a coupon so I didn’t pay full price. So far I have zero complaints. Oh, and the bucket is spotless when done. Do not put fat or condiments in it.

I'll start by saying that in our area, outdoor composting is impossible as it's an attractant for wildlife (racoons and bears). I've done the indoor worm bins but that's a lot of work. We've been using the Foodcycler for two weeks with near perfect success. For a family of 3, plus occasional guests, we've used it 12 out of 14 days. You can compost your usual vegetable scraps, but also your expired, moldy leftovers from the fridge. Some small amounts of meat, bones and breads. I was a bit sceptical at first but after introducing some chicken wings to the mix, the end product was amazing. It can be described as dehydrated dirt. Vitamix provides a guide of acceptable items, and items in small amounts, so its been a bit of an experiment with nearly a 100% success. We did have one batch that came our like a dough ball, and I can't be sure what caused it. That was the only time I've had to clean the bin, otherwise it cleans itself. There is no compost waste smell but a very slight baked dirt smell, if you put your nose to the final product. We've chosen to have the Foodcycler in our pantry, while a family member who also has one placed their unit in their garage. So how am I saving money? In our area, weekly garbage pickup costs $40 a month. Now with the Foodcycler, our under the kitchen counter garbage is 1/2 full in a week, while we recycling paper and plastics as well. That's not even a full black garbage bag per month and at least half of the normal weight. I may only hit the dump once every two months but that's yet to be determined. As for electrical costs, watching a number of YouTube videos on the power consumption rates, the Foodcycler can consume a high of 1.5 kwh. At our current hydro rate, that's $0.18 per cycle. We highly recommend the Foodcycler.

I've used indoor food processors like this for a while (from other manufacturers) and my last one just broke. Saw this and decided to get it as a replacement. The build is solid, and overall looks to be much sturdier than my previous one. In order to use it I had to buy a step down transformer because it runs off 120v, which is not UK compatible (despite being advertised as such). I've been using it for about two months now. It's a lot quieter than my previous one, and runs for less time. Overall, I'm more than happy with the quality. I'd give it 5 stars if it was UK compatible out of the box
