Solid Bivy
Great bivy. The bivy works great and the pole is perfect for more air circulation inside. We had to purchase another sleeping pad that fits inside.

Great bivy
My favorite all-round bivy. Lightweight, compact.

Great quality, but buying this has taught me that bivy's aren't the way to go.
The bivy really feels like it's a good quality, but this was my first time buying a bivy and will be my last time. There's not enough room to reach down and take your socks off, for example, because it's so tight in there. It felt like there was barely enough room to switch from your stomach to your back. I did have a sleeping bag in there, of course, but who wouldn't? I've made up my mind...bivy is not the way to go.

NOT Waterproof
I used this for six nights in Utah in October. Cool nights with a fair amount of dew. Definitely not waterproof, as my bag was wet all night every night. Probably would only recommend for extending the season of older bags used in the summer/ fall where condensation is not as much an issue.

Bivy sack
This is worth the price, and fits easily in a backpack. I used it in the rain and I stayed dry.

Gets the job done, mostly.
Worked just fine in the cold desert for a week. It's tight, probably as expected, but it's tight! I'm 6' 175lbs -180lbs most days. What got me was finding myself in an actual unexpected survival situation and the biv did not perform, could have been bad. Long story short, I pulled this bivy out in a hurry one afternoon at the end of a 9 day solo remote expedition. Only two days left but I'd have to make it through that evening first. Unexpected heavy snow and rain socked me in on top of a mesa and I knew I needed to set up shelter quick and prepare for this weather moving in. Popped it up under an old juniper, crawled inside and after much consideration I mananged to get a message through requesting an evacuation from a friend asap. I passed out and five hours later I was awoken to a friend and a couple inches of snow. My bivy was soaked my bag was soaked, socks and pants and everything else was soaked. I'm not entirely experienced in bivouacs but had I not had an evac that evening I still wonder what wouldve happened. Waking up to frostbite in the wee hours? Going into hypothermia in such a deep slumber and then not wake up at all? I guess keep it out of moisture and on fair weather adventures only. I did lightly use weatherproofing, obviously not enough. Not waterproof, and is slim!

There is not three tie down points as pictured, only one on the either side and they are not even on the ends so you can’t get it set up completely right. Also no straps for your mat inside as what’s meant to be in the helium bivy. I’m thinking these may be knock offs or defected from the factory ? I have not used it yet I test the quality. Seems like good quality to the touch and feel and a very good design.

This does the job I bought it for (although I haven't used it in heavy rain yet). I don't normally do reviews but am completing this because I saw a couple that nearly put me off. 1. I definitely received the real Outdoor Research product. Reviews mentioning the number of peg loops may have missed that OR have updated the Helium. Their website now lists two peg loops but the pictures all still seem to have more. 2. People saying it's not as good as a tent are missing the point. This is an ultralight hooped bivy not a tent. It completely encloses me from wind and rain overnight with enough space to read but is small and light enough to fit in a running pack. Any tent I could find weighs twice as much, costs twice as much, depends on trekking poles or all three. I'd have thought most people who are going to spend £200 online on a product like this will have done their research and worked out what they want.
