AP is really good, excellent range and setup is easy but caution in case if someone is looking for it as a WiFi repeater. It isn't a wifi repeater.

When I bought this, and having spent many hours researching, I waited with apprehension to arrive. I've seen many a product over the years promise performance and significantly underachieve in practical use.Installation was easy enough, ran a CAT6 cable to the access point which was mounted on the chimney stack overlooking the farm land. The device comes with a PoE adapter in the box, so it was just a case of plug it in, connect the PoE adapter to the router/hub and wait for it to power up. You need to download the App and set up an Essentials controller the Omada app, where you then add the device and configure the WiFi SSID and security. This is probably the more complex part of the installation as it requires a little more in-depth knowledge than your regular WiFi, but, once its set up it just works.Now to the performance. As I said at the beginning of this review, I had high hopes but enough scepticism to avoid disappointment. Walking to the very first field, I still had a full WiFi signal, which, running a speed test on www.fast.com, I was getting 220mbps which was the maximum speed anyway, even hardwired as it's going over StarLink. Moved to the very bottom of the fields, circa 0.75-1.0km (yes, Kilometer) away from the access point, and still getting 220mbps.One of the key things to note when installing this AP, is the performance is astounding but, you need to understand how Wireless Access Points broadcast their signals (think a cone shape) so, if it's too high or pointing straight forward, anything on the periphery can struggle to get a signal, so, positioning it and aiming it in the direction you absolutely need it is important. I say this as, it was originally mounted on the chimney stack, but the stables weren't getting a great signal despite the wider areas in the direct path getting perfect and fast speeds. Therefore, mounting this on a pole and slightly changing the angle made a huge difference without hugely effecting the performance in the wider areas.If you need even further distance coverage, then perhaps purchasing another (or more) of these to act as repeaters in a Mesh WiFi network would be advisable.Another thing I did was split the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz/6Ghz frequencies in to separate SSID's as each have their strengths and weaknesses. Having them converged in to one SSID could sometimes force something to use a lower and slower frequency than the faster speeds. Of course, this is individual to the requirement and it's use case.So, all-in-all, VERY impressed with this access point and would highly recommend it.

Great for extending Starlink, So easy to install, using the Omada app, once you realise that SSID is the name you gave to your current router.We live in a rural area that isnt getting broadband. UK 2025 eh?We ran an ethernet cable from the port on the starlink router to an outbuilding 20m away that had a mains socket, put it on the side of the building and got 200mbs 150 meters away!Great for adding more security cameras too.Thinking of getting another and trying the connection without a cable.

Why did you choose this product over others?:Very happy

A truly capable bit of kit for covering large areas outdoors, but it is important to keep in mind a number of things:1. Distance covered and speeds achieved will vary considerably based on the abilities of the receiving end. At approx 450 feet / 150 metres, using the internal wifi in my Lenovo ThinkPad X230 laptop I would get at best 1 mbs on 2.4GHz. I already know from tests with other wifi access point that the internal antenna in my laptop is poor - so no surprises there. With an external usb AX1800 adapter with its own external antennas, I could get between 30-100 mbs on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. So expect a large variation in speed and connection quality between devices at the receiving end - specially at larger distances. This applies to any wifi access point, not just this one2. When trying to cover larger areas, line of sight and lack of obstacles is even more important than at short range. At the edge of the property where I ran the tests there is a fence made of metal mesh. In front of the fence, approximately 100 metres / 300 feet from the access point, I would get about 100 mbs on both bands. Immediately behind the fence I would get literally zero. Also there were big differences when the signal had to travel through trees. So to achieve best results at long distances, complete lack of obstacles is really important.3. Again, for best results at long range, there shouldn't be another wifi network between the receiving device and the access point broadcasting in the same or adjacent channels. Having another network on the same channel literally brought the connection from 100 mbs to the wifi network not even being detected by the computer any more.4. The access point seems to be fairly directional for the 5GHz band - with similar strength in front and behind, but quite poor sideways. Curiously, coverage for 2.4GHz seems to be far more omnidirectional, with almost the same signal strength in all directions - at least in my tests.I have tried a number of outdoor and indoor access points over the years, and I would say in terms of coverage, this is up there with some of the best. Many access points claim really high speeds, but it is difficult to work out how good they are at covering large areas - at least there is nothing concrete in the specs - and often reviewers focus purely on close range performance. I have managed to connect to this access point from about 150 metres / 450 feet with a usb AX1800 adapter with its own external antennas and push through anywhere between 30-100 mbs. It should be capable of covering even longer distances - but I couldn't test it as I reached the boundary of the next industrial estate, after crossing a road, which meant getting behind a metal mesh fence - which would have killed the signal. With such capabilities, and for £150 or so, I would say it is well worth if you are trying to either connect two buildings or reach devices far away from the access point.
