This is a review of the Ecoflow River 2 Pro Portable Power Station and 160 Watt Portable Solar Panel package deal, purchased in 2024 for use in North America Important: The solar panel and Power station are shipped separately from different locations and will probably arrive on different days. I received an email informing me about this after placing my order. In my case the solar panel arrived about a week before the power station. The day the power station was supposed to arrive, I got a message that they were out of stock and it would be delayed by two weeks, and they offered me a link to cancel the order and get a refund if I didn't want to wait. Despite that message, the power station actually arrived the next morning. Two weeks later a third package arrived containing a cable to connect the solar panel to the power station. The solar panel package already included this cable, so now I have two. Solar Panel: When folded up and in the included carrying bag it is about 60cm by 60cm (2ft by 2ft) and weighs about 5kg (11 pounds). Unfolded it is about 60cm tall by 2m wide (2ft tall by 6ft wide). It has two built-in metal kickstands to hold it at the proper angle to the sun. The panel has built-in cables about 1m (3ft) long with standard male/female connectors. Another 2m (6ft) cable was included that has male/female connectors on one end and the plug that fits in the power bank on the other end. Using only the included cables, the power bank has to be within 3m (9ft) of the solar panel. I ordered a generic 6m (20 foot) cable from Amazon to extend that distance. The panel is light and will need to be secured if the weather conditions are windy. The panel has holes in the corners that you could thread some paracord loops through to help tie/stake it down. I tested it at Noon on a sunny day with a bit of haze in mid-December near 45 Degrees North latitude. Temperature was about -12C (10F). The panel is rated at 160 watts. The power bank reported it was charging at 140 watts from the panel, so it was pretty close to the rating, and better than I expected. When the shadow of a tree branch crossed the corner of one panel, the charging power dropped to 100 watts. In perfect conditions, this panel could charge the power bank from empty to full no faster than 4.8 hours (768 watt-hours / 160 watts = 4.8 hours). In real-life conditions a full charge on solar will take longer. I will probably not be using the panel often, but it will be nice to have the option available. Power Bank: The power bank is about 25cm wide by 25cm tall by 10cm thick (10in by 10in by 8in), weighs about 8kg (17 pounds) and has a convenient carrying handle. It has a flat top so you can stack things on top of it. The AC and Solar ports to charge it are on the back. The power outlets are on the front. The unit has three USB-A ports (12W max) and one USB-C (100W max) There are four AC outlets and a button that can turn the AC inverter on or off. It also has a 12-volt automotive socket, two 12 volt barrel sockets, and a button that can turn the 12 volt power on or off. A small LED screen shows info about the amount of charge, power in, power out, hours remaining, and other useful stuff. You need to install an app on your phone to configure all of the features of the power bank, and to load any firmware updates. The app connected to my device without any problems, and is pretty easy to use. When it arrived the charge was at 30 percent. I plugged it into an outlet (110volt mains power), and was it fully charged in less than an hour. Use: My primary intended use is to keep my internet access running during power outages. My neighborhood gets a couple of outages per year, usually less than a day long. I work from home and I need internet access for this. I set the power unit up as a UPS for my internet cable modem and Wi-Fi router. The unit is plugged in to an AC outlet and is providing AC power to my devices while keeping the battery charged. When I simulated a power outage by unplugging the power unit, it quickly switched to battery power and the internet and all my devices stayed connected. The unit reported that it could keep them running on battery power for about 28 hours. This device appears to have more than enough power to keep my internet running, and me employed, through a one-day power outage. I also tested a CPAP machine with a built-in humidifier running on one of the power unit's AC outlets. This CPAP drained it from 100% charge to 45% in one night. Overall I am pleased with the quality and usefulness of the device for my intended purpose.

This is a fantastic new addition to Ecoflow's line of "power houses". If you're like I was, you are reading these reviews in hopes of finding more sincere information about the product. I was hesitant at first to purchase this unit thinking it's the same thing as the smaller rivers with just an incremental increase in capacity from them. Noting that output power increases with the River2 Pro, I decided to give it a shot. After receiving the River 2 Pro (very well packaged I might add) I immediately put it through its paces. So here are a few real life uses I tried. First I wanted to verify the 800 watt a/c output specification so I plugged in a 800 watt coffee maker I happened to have and it ran flawlessly (see pic), putting out slightly more than stated. Next up was the toaster that came in at 711w , a household vacuum at 450w , and of course recharging phones , laptops, running lights, large fans and my newest "fan" favorite the 5 inch USB powered fan drawing a whopping 2w on low to 4w high !!! Yes it moves air !! Next up was the pellet stove . It easily powered the fans , blowers and auger, no problems there. The stove pulled about 150w on fans and 200w only when the auger kicks on for 3-5 seconds. In reading reviews and product questions both posed on Ecoflow products and other sites, I've seen a lot of questions regarding whether you can run sump pumps or not. So when it comes to sumps the problem is surge power, the power initially needed to get the pump started. It's a quick "jolt" of power, so quick its usually not observable on the screen. Anyway, I hooked the River2 Pro up to a 1/3 HP sump pump with a surge power of what I think is around 1300w -1600w. It ran like a champ! (see the video, volume up). I was instructed on how to calculate surge power on a sump to know the size generator that was needed. The general formula is this: Amps x voltage equals watts. Now when calculating surge you must multiply your amps x 4 then plug that number into the formula. My pump specifications stated it was 3.5 amps, so 14 amps x 115 volts (as stated on pump specs) equals 1610 watts of surge. Now I think this is bit over the actual surge needed but I provide the info for your consideration and your own pump's application. That being said the River2 Pro will be great with this pump during prolonged power outages. Recharging is as easy as plugging it to an outlet or using its solar charging capabilities. Both get the job done amazingly quick overall. The ability to use the unit as it charges is an awesome feature, not unique but worth mentioning due to the speed of charging in Ecoflow units and their LiFePo technology. It allows you to use higher wattage devices with far less battery depletion as it charges when your output exceeds total input. The Ecoflow App allows for monitoring of all input, output and state of charge. (see pics). Well I bought this unit specifically for its portability and "battery life" capacity for outdoor activities, but it's nice to know what it can do when its time to come indoors !! I've quickly realized that excursions to locations "not" so far off the beaten path can be made easier and so much nicer with the battery capacity of the River 2 Pro. This unit fits nicely into a small tote with room to spare for protection from elements. Its easy to get carried away with the possibilities, like throwing it on a wagon and taking everywhere a wagon will go !! So all in all, I give the River2 Pro 5 stars across the board. I highly recommend it for those seeking portable sizeable storage capacity . But more than that I recommend it for its outstanding functionality.

Okay, I did not get it for this purpose and just found out about a week ago when I got it to play with it. I tried out different lights, fans, radios, etc. Still am going to try more things later. I bought an EF Ecoflow Delta 2 Max with 2 solar panels last year and have used it a few times for various work related and music related purposes and it work perfectly. It is heavy (like 60 lbs) and I thought i would get a smaller ECOFLOW to run a few items on while the other is charging off the sun or otherwise. More than pleased with the Smaller ECOFLOW. This one is only 17 pounds. It will not run a frig or big TV for more than an hour maybe 2 and I couldn't use it for my job and career fairs where I run 5-6 devices for up to 8 hours. The Delta does this easily though. I am a musician, and my group of 4 play lots of indoor and outdoor gigs. I do have a Westinghouse inverter 2000W generator that I have used for the outdoor stuff and it has been great for about the last 5 years. Pretty quiet but the ECOFLOW is silent and no fumes so I can use it inside or outside. I have used the big delta a couple of time indoors - there were no inhouse plugs close by without running 100' or extension cord. It worked great but again it is heavy to haul around. Here we go.......Epiphany/Discovery Time! I can run my whole musical group setup from the smaller ECOFLOW! Easily! for 30 hours or more. I still can't believe it! I just kept plugging in my equipment one thing at a time and it all works for much longer than I will ever need it. So here's my setup - Behringer 1600W Amp/mixer combo - 2 big Peavey passive speakers (15 inch woofers and horn drivers for high end) - a smaller Behringer keyboard amp/mixer monitor - a full size Yamaha keyboard - and last but not least (and I really don't use this as part of my regular setup but I wanted to see how much this thing could handle) a Peavy Keyboard amp/speaker combo. Oh, I also had a large Harbinger, powered speaker, that I hauled out of the storeroom and plugged it in too. If you have lost count, that's 5 devices total. The ECOFLOW still only showed about 70W of output and that it would be able to run for 25-30 hours. Crazy! It will run about 4-5 light bulbs for maybe 4 hours but all this stuff for much, much longer than I will ever need it for. Who would have guessed? I play in a string group with 1 cello, 1 violin, 1 flute and 1 keyboard. All instruments have pickups and mics running into the big Behringer Amp including the keyboard. So, getting back to my actual performance setup, that's 4 instruments and 3 electronic devices to give sound to everything. It works! and not just for a few minutes or a few hours but would run it all for 30+ hours! That's nuts. I assume all of these electronics take very little input and then internally amp those inputs up to what it required. Sorry, I am not an engineer - I don't really care how it works - it just does, beautifully. What a great discovery! Update on 6-17-25 A few days ago I setup this device with 4 instruments in my Garage. I have an upcoming Farmer's market and wanted to give it a realistic tryout before I actually go use it. Items plugged into it. Full size Yamaha Keyboard, Behringer piano monitor, and Behringer 1600 watt amp/mixer powering to large Peavy speakers. The Ecoflow was charged at about 96%. We played for about 1.5 hours. The device said it would go 9 hours to start with. At the end of the 1.5 hours it said about 8 hours. The Farmer's Market is by far our longest gig of the year at 5 hours. 9 hours is plenty of time. More after our first performance on 6-21-25.

Good, portable size. Not a home backup, but can be used for individual backup. Like refrigerator or tv. Also phone, laptop charging. Limited time on running refrigerator. I had this unit running my fridge only. Started at 88%. Fridge uses ~110-130 watts, when running. Unit lasted about 7-8hrs

With small children living in the house, I thought it would be prudent to consider some type of generator the for kids’ bedroom upstairs in case we had an outage. Small children sometimes struggle in the daytime, but can you imagine what it would be like in complete darkness? I needed a small power source to run the TV and lights in their bedroom if we had any event that caused our electricity to go out. I previously purchased the EcoFlow Max, which I love, but I need it downstairs for the refrigerator, lights, phones, computers, etc. Because the EcoFlow Max performed so well, I decided to purchase the EcoFlow River 2 Pro to keep me sane and the kids happily watching TV in the dark until bedtime. I was anxious to receive it and set it up. When it arrived, it was charged to 28% and took less than an hour to fully charge to 100%. The EcoFlow River 2 Pro has four AC outlet sockets, three USB-A ports and one USB-C port, plus two DC outlet ports and a car-charger outlet. One thing to remember is that AC outlet sockets and the DC section have a small on/off oval switches that need to be pushed on before those sections will start charging. I made the mistake of pushing the main button and wondering why the River 2 Pro was not charging my small heater. I forgot I needed to push that on/off button on the side of the AC section. After having success with my heater, I went upstairs to see how long this River 2 Pro could run the 50” TV in the kids’ room. After hooking it up, I was surprised to see that it could run this TV for 9 hours! That certainly eased my anxiety that the kids and I would go insane in total darkness. An added benefit of the River 2 Pro is that it is super portable weighing about 17 lbs. I can easily take it to the park, pack it for fishing or camping, or carry it upstairs to keep the kids happy during an outage. Its size and portability are great pluses when one considers all the packing that needs to be done when traveling with kids. To keep the battery in great shape, I found out that the EcoFlow should be discharged and recharged every three months. I put a reminder in my calendar and plan to hook up the Ecoflow to computers or TVs to discharge it, and then I’ll charge it. Please remember to do this because it states in the booklet “…the product will not be covered by warranty if it is not charged or discharged for more than 6 months.” My experience with the EcoFlow has been excellent. It’s a great, small power source that is portable, powerful and fast charging. It’s a critical item to have in emergencies. Besides emergencies, it’s nice to have for charging everyone’s things like computers, phones, tablets, Kindles, etc. when away from the house. A great plus is the four ways to charge the River 2 Pro—solar, USB-C, car, or AC. It really gives me a lot of options. I see solar panels in my future. I highly recommend the EcoFlow River 2 Pro for anyone looking for a compact, dependable power source.

We recently picked up this unit along with an ECOFLOW Delta 2 and solar panels at the substantial Memorial Day Sale. All told I think we saved over $1,000 vs. the typical price. and feel a bit more prepared for the heavy hurricane season we're anticipating here in Florida. We're very pleased. LIKES OVERALL IMPRESSIONS - This is a handsome, nicely made piece of equipment. It feels solid in every way and with the built-in handle it's very easy to pick up and carry about, (as long as you're not going too far!) The layout with the display and A/C outputs all on the same side is better than on the Delta 2. USE AS EPS ECOFLOW advertises that you can leave these units plugged into wall power with your devices connected on a pass-through basis, and the unit will seamlessly take over when the wall power fails, which was what I wanted. It works. They're careful to say the switchover from wall to battery power may not be quick enough to keep some computers from shutting down (like a true "UPS") but my laptop with its own battery never blinked. The app reported this tiny cube would run my cable modem, router, laptop, smart speaker, and dual 20" monitors for about 7 hours; or a bit more with the external monitors off. We work from home, and this will be a great help in power outages large or small. BATTERY CHEMISTRY Glad to see the Lifepo4 chemistry that trades a bit of energy density for roughly 3x the charge cycles. This unit should last as long as we need it CAPACITY We decided on this unit and a Delta 2 instead of one bigger unit so we can place them around the house, plugged in to critical devices and ready to go in an emergency. At 700+ claimed watt hours, this is substantial backup power source in a very compact, easy to carry package. We have this one set up in a bedroom to take over lights and run a fan. It will be nice for every single thing in the house to not go black the second we lose power, which even without hurricanes happens a few times a year in our area. APP ECOFLOW's app is slick, sophisticated and great to use. I like the images of the respective devices that lets you look at each one in turn, and that both this and the Delta 2 can connect to Bluetooth and Wi-fi. The Delta took a while to get it to connect to our network, but the little RIVER 2 PRO connected instantly. Just a breeze to set up. NOT SO LIKES Not much with this unit, frankly. It's a little odd that both this and the larger Delta 2 we bought won't register the amount of power being drawn if it's below a certain level. For example, we moved the Delta 2 to my home office and set this one up to run a couple of small LED lights, a larger LED lamp, and an Echo 5 smart speaker/alarm clock in the bedroom, with plans to connect a tower fan in the event of a summer blackout. With the fan running, it will show the power draw (about 40 watts total) but with just the lights and the Amazon device, it shows 0 output, although it will still calculate runtime. Good to know it will run the small items a long time though. SUMMARY/RECOMMENDATION This is a great device. I'd almost suggest getting more of these for the kind of setup we have, except I'm not sure the little RIVER 2 PRO would do as well with my wife's electric kettle, which runs perfectly from the Delta 2 and is a necessity for making sure she is properly caffeinated (which is more of a necessity for my personal safety and comfort than it might seem). For car camping or running a kiosk or something, it would be absolutely perfect in many circumstances. I have no notes for ECOFLOW except that more power for less money is always appreciated. I recently purchased the EcoFlow River 2 Pro for a camping trip, and overall, I'm quite satisfied with its performance. The battery capacity and compact size make it ideal for travel, and it served me well as a power source for my CPAP machine and charging my phones. Throughout the night, it maintained a steady power supply, and I still had around 50% battery remaining when I woke up the next morning. To recharge the battery, I paired it with the compatible 220W bi-directional solar panels, which efficiently brought it back to 100% within just a few hours. The combination worked seamlessly in providing a reliable and renewable energy source. However, my experience took a disappointing turn a few months later when I attempted to use the River 2 Pro as a backup power solution for my internet and security camera system. Despite setting the charging limit to 65% in the software, the battery continued charging beyond that threshold, gradually gaining a few percentage points each day. This resulted in a frustrating scenario during a power outage when the battery suddenly shut off. Despite attempting resets and contacting customer service, the issue remained unresolved. It's possible that I received a faulty unit, as these things can happen. My main concern lies with the customer service experience. I initially reached out through the app but received no response. I had to resort to searching online for a phone number to directly contact them. Unfortunately, the language barrier became an additional challenge, as it was difficult to communicate clearly due to the overseas customer service representatives' limited English proficiency. After multiple email exchanges, they offered me the choice of a refund or a replacement battery. I opted for a replacement since I genuinely liked the battery's performance. However, since then, I've encountered complete silence from the company—no tracking number, no confirmation of the shipment—absolutely nothing. This lack of communication and follow-through has left me quite disappointed. While I had high hopes for EcoFlow based on their reputation, my personal experience with their customer service has been extremely poor. I was considering them for a whole-house backup battery system, but I'm now hesitant to proceed. If you do decide to purchase the River 2 Pro, I hope your experience with both the product and customer service will be better than mine. Update I regret to say that my experience with EcoFlow's customer service has deteriorated even further. Communication with them has become a frustrating ordeal. When they do manage to reach out, the font size of their messages is so small that it's practically unreadable. It seems like they use pre-written scripts and fail to comprehend the actual issues at hand. It's disheartening to continuously encounter a lack of understanding and assistance regarding my battery concerns. Despite sending my battery back to them as requested, I find myself caught in a seemingly endless cycle of delays and excuses. I have a sinking feeling that it could take weeks, if not a month, before I receive a replacement—if I ever receive one at all. I even attempted to request a return and move on to another manufacturer, but even that simple process has become an arduous challenge. It is crucial to be fully aware of the level of support you can expect from EcoFlow. Due to these recent developments, I have decided to change my rating accordingly.
